The song is about a person/being who is in hell and points out that's his own actions that put him there. So like, actions and consequenses basically. Can really recommend the Swedish metal band Amon Amarth. React to their musicvideo At dawn's first light! Then, continue with more Swedish metal; Arch Enemy - The eagle flies alone.

There are so many to pick from. A little piece of heaven is one you must prepare for. Since were “easing” into a7x night I suggest - so far away ( this is dedicated to their late drummer jimmy “the rev” Sullivan) or even the beast and the harlot.

A friend of mine who is a huge fan of that band told me that most of the songs of the album were written by the former drummer of the band, The Rev, but he passed away before the recording sessions, and since Mike Portnoy was his favorite drummer, the band asked him to play drums for that album and the tour. Now here is a short list of bands Mike Portnoy plays/did play with : Dream Theater (which was his main band until he left them in 2010, you gotta check that band), Liquid Tension Experiment, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, The Neal Morse Band, The Winery Dogs, Adrenaline Mob, Sons of Apollo, PSMS, Stone Sour (he did only on show with them), Amazing Journey, Hammer of the Gods, Twisted Sister and I'll stop there =D

The song's about their childhood friend and fellow band member Jimmy, or "The Reverend" who took his own life as he had a disease that would of killed him in afew more years and everyday it just got worse. The nightmare here is a life without Jimmy, hence as your nightmare comes to life, so far away is a very emotional song and music video that further portrays how much they love and miss Jimmy

The lyrics are about how he gave up on life & the sin of killing himself had lead to his soul being stolen by hell. I think it's about a person who is having literal nightmares about Hell because they have missed out on going to heaven because of their actions. But I also feel like they are in a mental hospital while having these nightmares and struggles because in the lyrics it said something about being mediated or sedated or something like that in one line. I was kind of disappointed that you guys didnt really compare this one to Hail to the king. You didnt talk about what you noticed that may have been similar or different from each other. It's all good though. The story of this song kid of reminds me of another metal/thrash song called Alison Hell by Annihilator Another lates 80s thrash band tou guy should check out some day
@DethronerX5 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with mainstream, just that it's made mostly to be liked by fans and to be sold. Non-Mainstream is more like personal for artists who do it mostly because they themselves like it. Both work, because you have an audience with both. Not a big fan of this band, not just because mainstream, i love some mainstream metal or even pop, like Christina Aguilera, because that lady can really sing so well and is powerful. Actually, a metal singer Seraina Teli of Dead Venus (and ex-Burning Witches) covered her song, "keep singing my song", a very cool tribute!. It's just personal choice with some mainstream metal bands, because of how Metal has been very outsider thing, which has had its cult following and then pop metal tries to commercialize it. I do like some of it, if it has some badass musicians and great songwriting, like Disturbed is one of the killer heavy as fuck nu metal bands and the guy's voice is massively good and he's got a good range. He keeps it still heavy and deep when singing higher pitch. Avenged Sevenfold, i just find pretty boring whenever I try to listen to it. But there is no reason why you shouldn't be doing these bands. Do what you wish. But please do keep the balance of commercial and non commercial, as you are already! Cheers!
