Two Steps from Hell: Emerald Princess (No EDM Mix)

I personally love this track exactly as it is, EDM sections and all-it's become one of my all-time favorites from Thomas-but I know some people aren't too fond of the genre juxtaposition, so I thought it would be fun to rework the track using the stems available on Extreme Music (which means there's a LITTLE bit of synth in there, but nothing that would have freaked people out had the track originally released this way). I had to do a bit of pitch-shifting to get the climax sounding right, and a couple of brief non-EDM sections (after the 5-minute mark) were removed to keep the piece flowing smoothly, but I think you'll find this version works in its own right! Feel free to let me know what you think. :)

Simply breathtaking! I stumbled upon this version, and I'm so thankful that I did! Don't get me wrong, the other version is good but I love the flow of this well put piece. It flows effertlessly and I must say, I do prefer it without the EDM. We have to come to the realization that music is an individual journey and as long as I love what I hear, that is my personal journey. What I prefer doesn't affect anyone personally. To each his/her own.

I always thought this was one of his best songs, but was terribly disappointed to hear this electro part that ruins everything. At least should he have included a nice electro part, but let's be honnest, this is simply a "poom-tseek-poom-tseek-2000's-basic-techno-shit". I love the electronic portions of the original track (and especially how they combine with the orchestral in the climax), and "Emerald Princess" has become my all-time favorite from Thomas. Thomas knows what he's doing in any genre, and I don't think he got lazy or sold out to the mainstream here. There's arguably even more of his talent to be enjoyed in the original track - this is just an interesting alternate version. It's fine to let us know if the actual track isn't to your taste, but let's not deride its artistry in the process. :)

I love the EDM section and absolutely prefer it - it takes a really good track and makes it something much greater (and obviously holds a lot more meaning knowing what Thomas had in mind). This is just another take on "Emerald Princess" that some people were interested in hearing. :)

The original track is one of my favorite pieces of music by any composer ever. This is just an interesting experiment to hear it a different way, not an attempt to "improve" on the original or anything. I love the wild EDM stuff and agree that's the point of it. I've had second thoughts about uploading this for years.

I do worry about encouraging music genre elitists and the like, but I absolutely adore the original track (and especially its bold genre-mashing). I thought it would be interesting to hear a version using some of the orchestra stems - a "what might have been," but not a "fix" or an "improvement" by any means. I just want to assure you this wasn't done with any intention of disrespecting the original work - just showing some of its other nuances (as you can hear more from the choir in the second half, Merethe's vocals from the climax more clearly, etc.).
