That is absolutely awesome, I love the bikes from this pre water cooled era, I had one of its competitors, a 1980 KX 125. These bikes were so basic and easy to work on.

Original Moto-X Fox and JT stickers too. That was the last year Yamaha made their air cooled 125s. The bike design is so simple but it was well balanced and handled great.

I once had tht very same model back in the day. I later on took a liking to the Euro colors of the White/Blue under a Local Sponsorship. BEST times of my Life ! I went on the 250 and Open class with decent results. Sadly due to Knee problems like Osgood Schlatter's I had to stop doing the one this I loved . Bob Hannah was my Idol back then. well till he left Yamaha.

I had a 78 750 Bonneville. Great for riding in downtown Houston late at night. Opening it up going through the Washburn Tunnel late at night when there was no traffic.

For MX bikes I was partial to Yamaha but later I turned to what ever was fast. Suzuki was one in that category. One of my faves was a RM 370. Lite yet powerful . I loved it. Rodger Decoster then was another Hero to me.

Awesome yz125! I am a proud owner of 1980 yz250g, 1982yz490j, and 1981 it175. I like the air cooled 2 stroke bikes because they are easy to work on, less moving part that will fail over time, and they are so much fun to ride. The bmw would be fun to drive 6 speed? My daily is a 2000 subaru impreza 2.5rs 5 speed awd. Im happy with it and like that awd 5 speed.

Update these air-cooled bikes with disk brakes, electric start, and fuel injection top-of-the-line suspension, and they would sell to riders looking for an easy-to-maintain simple reliable machine. This would probably save weight as well. Especially for trail and enduro riders, you don't need 45 horsepower to trail ride.
