Footage of the old Tovil level crossing which is now permanently closed. The crossing had ringing bells which warned of an approaching train.

Yeah, people just ignored the bells - probably why this foot crossing was closed and replaced 🙄

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel yeah, in New South Wales, Australia, I don't ever recall seeing any foot crossings other than the level crossings and stations unfortunately and the train passes 10-20 after the gates go down so we don't have that problem

@@OldFossil Ah yeah - I've seen videos of some of the foot crossings in Australia. Many seem to be beside road crossings. The UK has hundreds of footpath crossings, most of which don't have any lights, barriers or alarms; just signs saying beware of trains.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I recall that at that crossing approaching trains are visible for at least 1 minuite before the train reaches the crossing oh dear, my mouth has got onto the keyboard again... there are 4 crossings in that area, the footpath crossing, a crossing which used to be user worked (still has the penalty signs on the gates last time i was there) but now has an "attendant", an AHB crossing, and a MCB crossing, intrestingly, the MCB crossing doesnt have any alarms, the AHB crossing seems to have once had bells but now has alarms, which are either very quiet or turned off, as i never heard them sound on the 2 occasions ive seen that crossing close, the bells are still there but disconnected (i never managed to film this crossing activate, but even if i did i would have deleted the footage, just like i deleted the footage of the ONE time i saw the MCB crossing close) and how i know that the gated crossing has an attendant, is because the one time i filmed at that crossing (and i foolishly deleted the footage) the attendant came out and closed the gates pretty much as soon as i had crossed all 4 of those crossings are on a freight line, but apparently there are plans to maybe bring passenger services back to the town (the passenger services most likely wont go as far as the footpath or attendant operated crossings, just the MCB, and maybe the AHB crossings, depending on where the platform is put

Probably because of the misuse and near-misses. Even if e2s alarms were installed and Unipart Rail Pedestrian wigwags, people would still cross like they do.

You need to settle down the camera and stop waggling it about continuously, there is no point in showing someone something and then whipping it away before they can absorb it.

Yeah - it's mainly trying out different things with my camera angles, video quality etc and seeing what works and what doesn't.
