ChasingChey, thank you for the review of the bag. I have a Porter46 myself and it is great for European travel. A suggestion is to lie flat your packing cubes to maybe flatten your bag.

Great review. Just got back from 9 day Costa Rica, and I used just a carryon duffel and a packable backpack. Realized that I needed a backpack style pack and an trying both the Farpoint 40L and the Porter 46L. I think I'll get the Farpoint 55L for longer trips, but your review really made think the Porter - Daylight pack is going to be my go to. Thanks!

I've been around the world a few times with this bag. I love the organization, but the straps dig into my shoulders and it makes me miss the Farpoint with those big thick straps. If they gave this bag bigger straps it would be 10/10 for one bag carry on. I still love it and can't bother to replace it yet. But if I end up walking around for several hours I do start to cry from shoulder pain.

I bought this bag for a trip to Amsterdam a few years ago. I had such a hard time trying to pack it...I gave up and used my nomadic 40L which oddly held everything (and more) that I was trying to fit into the osprey.

I would tend to agree with you - I think calling this a 46L is a bit deceiving - all the extra padding built into this bag takes up some of the packing space. I think the new version with the interior compression straps may help with this a bit. Glad you had another bag to use instead :)

Hello, So, if you had a choice to only buy one pack, would you buy the landmark 40 or the porter (30L instead)? I would want to use the pack as a personal bag, not a carry-on, so I would want to put it under the seat for a plane. I don't mind kicking in a few times the landmark 40L and put my feet on top of it so it can fit under the seat. We enjoyed your Thule landmark video also; that one got our attention. I have to decide which of the two I should buy. Thank you very much for your reviews.

If you're looking for something that fits under the seat, I'd recommend the Porter 30! I think the Porter 40 & Landmark 40 would be slightly too large (unless you're a very light packer!). The Porter's are easier to cinch down with their exterior compression straps, and this year's 30L model added load lifter straps, which is a great addition! I'll probably be buying the 30L myself one of these days 😊

Thanks for watching! If you're thinking of a personal item + another bag, 30L. Otherwise 46L is about as big as you can go for your larger bag, plus a smaller personal item for under the seat!

Yes, I was able to take this as a carry on! Probably a bit too big to fit below the seat in front of you, but was easily able to fit into the overhead compartment :)

Yes! I've done it. I put the porter up in the overhead bin, and my smaller bag went below the seat!
