why tf would you even need a transformer for a speaker?

That's because its designed to go with a 70 volt audio system commonly used in schools and stores as examples. The advantage of 70 volt audio is that it can handle long wire runs and can connect multiple speakers given you don't exceed the amplifier wattage.

Btw I got a Quam speaker and mine didn't have a defect in the coil because the bass sounds REALLY clear. It's not an extended response series but it's a 2024 model.
