The first time I was in Vietnam, I was at a lost. The language barrier was fierce. I couldn't even properly compute their money. Being a Filipino, I was so used to the Philippine Pesos. But most of the people that I encountered in Vietnam were very kind to me. They knew instantly, just by listening to my voice, and my accent that I am a Filipino, and they would ask, "you Filipino?" And I'd say, "yes." They will always answer with, I love Filipinos. You helped us before. We help you now. We are friends!" Despite the barriers, our hearts are connected through history. I'm looking forward to the day I'd go back and visit Vietnam again.

In Vietnamese culture, middle-aged or more people who are not blood-related would call each other "anh" (elder brother) or "chị" (elder sister) to express respect to each other, regardless of their real age. In my observation, people usually practice that after having their (first) child married. FYI.

After the Vietnam War and their unification.. The first country the leader of Vietnam visited was the Philippines, as a gratitude for our Nation for not sending combatant soldiers to fight them and join the US forces in the Vietnam War even we (The Philippines), are the US close ally (unlike in the Korean War whom Filipino soldiers fought side by side with the South Korean and American soldiers, against the North Korean and Chinese soldiers). In the Vietnam War, our late President Ferdinand E. Marcos DENIED the US Congress of their request to join them in combat and instead sent non combatant soldiers (PHILCAG) only to repair bridges, schools etc. and for humanitarian services. And for that reason and decision the friendships will forever be written in our (Vietnam - Philippines) History. 🙂🇻🇳❤️🇵🇭

I remember my Vietnamese school mates in Manila - they are kind and simple people - they are really vegetarian and they are slim - one day one Vietnamese told me - you Filipinos are meat eaters - She came and cooked shabu shabu for my board mate who is from Myanmar. In 1990's many refugees came to the Phil and they are hard working, they engage in "buy and sell" so they go from school to school or from office to office. But sometimes their experienced are not good because one related that his place was ransacked. This video is an eye opener for us and it impels us to respect one another and love one another regardless of culture, race, religion and others. May God bless us all.

I can feel your sentiments about the Chinese who ruled you for how many years. My Myanmar board mate told me that since we have also Chinese with us. I went to Korea last May. when my sisters and I were falling in line to go up Namsam Tower, a man was looking at us as if he was about to say something or as if we are familiar. I told my sister, maybe that guy is from Phil or he thought that we are from his country. when we were up and was seated, he approached us and we entertained him, he told us that he is from Vietnam and he was with his family. he left them in order to talk to us. I was able to talk to him slowly and for him also to understand me because of his limited English but I was able to grasped his words and I understood that his son who is a US Army and came home for vacation and treated them to Korea. He is very jolly and he even invited us to Vietnam to visit too. I am very much associated with Vietnamese people because the first Movie I watched during my college days was about Vietnam war example Green Beret and others and because of the refugees whom I encountered I even buy shoes from them. Turtle is delicious I tasted the big one when I went to the Pacific Island in Chuuk, Micronesia. We Filipinos can also eat the food you mentioned but not in a regular meal those who like only but not cat.

Love Vietnamese food... one of my favourite is Pho 🍲 very healthy, not much oil, unlike other Asian food.

I’m literally crying while watching the whole video. It’s so heartwarming to hear and watch this story. Humans are indeed naturally good. No matter what race we are, I just hope that in the generations to come, may we be able to pass this kind of values and mindset. May we extend help without any conditions and without expecting any returns. May we all truly treat each other as brothers and sisters. If we all do this even in our own simple and little ways, I believe and hope that the future will have a much better place to live. Yeah, I’m still crying....😭

What a heart warming story. Despite our differences in culture and/or background, in times of hardships, people like Jun and Sister pascal are there to help their fellow human beings. I hope everyone during those times found people similar to them and lived a comfortable life.

Thank you for sharing this video. I am from the Philippines and been working in Vietnam for 18 years. Vietnam is my 2nd country after the Philippines. The Vietnamese people are warm people. I didn't realised that while watching this video, there is a smile on my face. Thanks also to Kuya Jun for giving his support to these two amazing lola. May God continue to bless you all.

Loved the fact that there are no barriers - understanding can overcome the language. Filipino Pride! Proud to be Pinoy! Welcome as long as you act as a righteous person. But not all filipinos are the same.

Year 1994-95 I had known 2 Vietnamese men. Luk Lee and Long Than Dong(yonglou). They were nice and they knew how to speak English and Tagalog. They said they learned in Palawan. But we'd met in tandag Surigao del sur because they'd buy and sale business such as Saigon perfumes, Vietnamese slippers, umbrella, etc.

What I love about Vietnamese people is their generosity and love of food. You have to eat what they offer you or else they'll never let you go home. I am here in Vietnam for almlst 4 yrs and I never felt alienated. I consider Vietnam as my second home. ❤❤❤

Salute to these women and their Filipino friend. I admire how the women wanted to stay on to the end with their Vietnamese cooking legacy. Such commitment. Somehow, I also feel like it's their own love language to their native Vietnam.
