This is so helpful! I’m using French seams for the first time and it just feels so weird to have a raw edge on the waistband so I’ve been trying to find a good video to kind of guide me though how I can have an elasticated back but clean finish still 😊

Great video, why would anyone choose to use the envelope method when the casing method is so much simpler ? This is the only one I will use from now on, so many thanks Mandi.

Hi it would be great if you used a fabric where you can tell the difference between inside and outside. I can’t understand how things are being done even when you say it because I can’t see the difference and what what I’m doing does not logically make sense to my brain… thanks!

Great video. I just have a question, how much bigger should the back waistband be compared to the front? I’m making a uniform for my daughter and want to add elastic. This will be drafted by me and as a novice I’m not sure how to do it
@MakewithMandi3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The total waistband measurement needs to be at least the same as the widest part of your daughters bottom. For the front waistband, measure her waist with a little ease and divide in half- that will be the measurement for your front waistband. Deduct this measurement from your total hip/widest measurement and that will give you the back measurement. Hope that helps
@rachaelparker-chavez46833 жыл бұрын
@@MakewithMandi thanks for this tutorial! With this math my front and back are the same lengths, but yours look much different. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
@MakewithMandi3 жыл бұрын
@@rachaelparker-chavez4683 what is the waist measurement and the hip measurement you are working with?
@learn1192 жыл бұрын
@@MakewithMandi Hi Mandi! Based on this measurement , let’s say a child has a 20 inch waist and 21 inch bottom/hip measurement. The front waistband will be 10 inches. Will the back waistband be 10 inches, plus 1 inch and seam allowance? Is this correct? Or should I make the back waistband, a little longer for ease? Thank you for posting this tutorial!
@MakewithMandi2 жыл бұрын
@@learn119 I don’t think you will need to add ease, but yes add the seam allowance.
