FINALLY a VO with half a brain who isn't trying to fool everyone into believing that every single time a baby cries it must be starving to death and every time their mama slaps them once they are not dying and oxygen deprived from being beat to death... Finally a VO that may have actually paid some attention to the animals they are watching and studies them instead of just watching and making shit up, lying to viewers, and possibly creating horrible situations for the monkeys/hurting/killing/kidnapping in order to make dramatic videos for views. I have such a hard time watching Gypsy and feel bad for all of her children. Even when she finally gives in and feeds, there's the absolutely brutal "grooming" they have to suffer through. It almost looks deliberate, as though she's punishing them for having the audacity to feed.

Dotty is such a good sister. Two times she went to Kailey and showed her in a gentle way how to forage. I'm not sure Dotty and Gypsy like eachother much. It didn't look like a lot of love between them. Different perspective of child raising, I guess. 🤓🏴‍☠️🇸🇪

These monkeys can nurse up to two years. Most start the process early, but it's more for regulation than anything.

@@debrajohnson3834 It's the way Gypsy grooms. Most adults don't stick around long to endure Gypsy's grooming. But her kids... it's the price of being able to nurse on Gypsy. So they endure the plucking until Gypsy gets tired of the process and chases them off or leaves them. Some others groom the same way, but not many and not with the gusto that Gypsy does. Some moms use it as a deterrent to the kids constantly asking to nurse. If you look you'll notice that occasional other kids with bald spots at the temple. She generally offloads her kids at an early age to babysitters. From a month or so old (at the first touch of teeth on teat?). She's little more than an absentee mom to her kids. But she's generally close, if not within sight. But just watch someone go after her kid, and she's fierce in their defense.

I think Gypsy was mad at Dottie for letting Kailey come to her when she was sitting on the hill. She chased Dottie and then Dottie came and got Kailey again. I was actually surprised that Gypsy let Kailey nurse at all. Kailey has to pay a price for it though, she plucks Kailey the whole time she is nursing. It is too bad Dottie has been sterilized as she would have made a better mum than Gypsy. Gypsy certainly isn't robust but she does look better than she did a few years ago. She definitely looks better than Tina. Kailey isn't very robust looking but it is hard to tell if her fur is good as Gypsy keeps yanking it out, LOL!

I have watched Gypsy through the years and she is still, in my opinion a very rough mother. She lets her babies nurse when she wants and only then. I know it seems tough on the babies and it is but I wonder if it was a learned from her mom. Daughters learn so much from their moms and in the monkey world it seems to trickle down. Just wish she wouldn't pluck them bald and I do remember one that was very bald but we kids love our moms no matter what. Only she can give us that mom love that we all crave.

It’s been several weeks since I’ve been able to watch. Seeing that Kailey has barely put on weight and that sorrowful, pitiful, cry of hers absolutely breaks my heart. I try not to get too emotionally affected by these guys as they are thousands of miles away and while I LOVE watching and supporting them (and you AM) however I can, what can you do if something happens? I just noticed something, the monkeys over here seem to look a lot I mean A LOT more decent looking, like not so hard on the eyes. Idk to me it seems they are healthier looking and not Always searching and scabbing for food. Idk how to explain it. The amari group I think that's what they're called look all scraggly and look like hobos lol and they're always ALWAYS looking for something to suck down!! These are Rhesus Monkeys they tend to start weaning at about 3-5months but wont be completely weaned til about 8months ..Sweet pea& Popeye are Long Tailed Macaques, I’m pretty sure they don’t start til like a year old..

Donna and Emma I agree too, there's something so adorable about tiny little skinny Kailey, who has to dance in the rain to get wet, to offer comfort to a fellow baby. At the risk of projecting human characteristics onto her (I'm forgetting the word for that at the moment), tiny little baby girl, great big sweet heart! Or as we say around here, a heart as big as Texas.* Kailey's so small and cute that you just want to scoop her up, protect her, and give her everything she wants. But methinks she's actually a pretty tough little girl who's wised up fast. I love Dotty's attentiveness, but Kailey doesn't seem needy or helpless. She's already begun to forage a bit and is probably ahead of the other 2019 babies in that regard, a silver lining of sorts from being Gypsy's child (I'm not a Gypsy hater but I can see how others could hold pretty negative opinions of her). Also Kailey is not afraid to go to Gypsy and make her request for milk known, which can be a real risk given Gypsy's unpredictability. I'll have to keep an eye out to confirm this, but I think Kailey has learned to "read" Gypsy's mood and behavior. So glad it paid off today and we got to see her nurse! Weaning is hard on the babies and I feel for them. But their coos are just precious, they look and sound so cute. *We seriously need a Texas emoji.... Apple, get on that!

5:45 you really see how skinny poor little Kailey is. The very aggressive plucking is probably preferable to Kailey than being left with a babysitter because her mom is actually allowing her to nurse and their close to her. That's about as much contact Kailey ever gets and Gypsy will even cut that as short as possible.

They hav to many babies for real , the first babies are still babies and can barely survive without help and they just keep having babies , another country in bad need of population control , at least these are on the outside of town and hav natural elements to live with , much nicer looking monkeys for sure , clean looking monkeys , the towns need to capture their monkeys and set them in the wild and keep them out of city , once their resources are gone they'll slow down on all the extra mouths to feed , like chimps , they eat the weak ones so they don't use up the resources, orangutans are perfect with one every 4 or 6 years , they make sure the first one is off and going
