So I’m completely new to this and the issue I’m having is not knowing where I need to start. They offer a lot and I’m interested in Data Science but not sure what language to choose or if it even matters. I’ve been learning Python for about a week so should I just pick that course? 😅 HELP!
@fabrice98482 жыл бұрын
@@officialxaemusic3806 Since you're interested in data science, picking Python as your first language seems a smart choice to me.

I think it's overpriced. I enjoy the content, but that they have a sale every month makes it clear even they're aware the price is too high. I have the student discount. Otherwise, I wouldn't pay for it.

I think that codecademy is really good for learning endurance, and more than goog for begginers. One problem is that you are in a "safe laboratory" wich is very different from reallity. But, the greatest advantage, I think, is that it is 100% made by experts. Not like other platfoms where you can find videos of really bad teachers. You rock candy, keep goin'

I used codeacadedmy back in the day maybe 2011 - 2013 and it was way different back then, I remember at the time people used to recommend FreeCodeCamp over it. Now it's much better, I don't really like their learn section on the left sidebar, their explanations/context I found quite boring and vague (maybe not my style) but overall it's good when supplementing with KZbin video's and coding in your own IDE afterward.

I took a lot of DS courses from CodeCademy, my impression is, the content makers are not really good at DS, they first learned some topics of DS themselves, and then they made the courses to let us learn the second hand knowledge. Since they do not have a deep understanding of the topics, what they can teach us is quite limited. Maybe their web development courses are much better, but for DS courses, I can't recommend them to anyone.

So one thing is learn from a teacher who explain you things and how to solve errors. One thing is read instructions and try to work the code. Im 25% on the codecademy course path, im saving a lot of money but im realizing more and more the difference between a real course and this one. The reality is with this course you are a self-lerner, you gotta struggle the double and you gonna miss something. Im used to read explanations on the website and then watch an other free course on youtube, mixing these 2 (which are not real courses but just VIDEOS) with online-resources i really hope to get it but im still evaluating to attend a real course.

My honest view? I will feel like a fraud if I sought to be employed just purely on what Codecademy taught me. The course is confusing to say the least, projects buggy and sometimes they provide the wrong answers! My theory was really on shaky ground purely from Codecademy's lessons: all messed up and very confused. I honestly can't code with what I learnt from Codecademy. Fortunately, I am learning my theory via KZbin videos, MDN, W3CSchool and some websites which are far better structured and more comprehensive than Codecademy by a long, long way!
