That's a 3rd straight win for us against the AB's, which I think is a first. Very proud of the boys, especially against a fully stacked NZ team while we were missing 2 of our best players in Penaud and Ntamack. We just managed to hold on in the first half, when we could have conceded 30. But we had a great second half. As always it's a great honor to play the AB's. They ARE rugby.

Did anyone else feel that this was almost deja vu from the match against the Boks in Johannesburg? France trailed for most of the match, but they never looked panicked and they just calmly went about their business. New Zealand will feel that they should have gotten better return for the amount of possession they had, but the French defense was something else. What troubles me the most about this loss for NZ is that last penalty - 5 minutes to go, they currently have the best lineout in the world and yet they kick for posts. I can't think of any All Blacks team ever that would have made that decision. They could have rolled the dice earlier, but not having a go at that time seems criminal to me. Massive credit to the French though, they were very good at the breakdown, their defense was good, but what impressed me the most, was their composure. Hard luck, Mark. But you'll get your chance to avenge this loss next year.
@thomaseskenazi20133 сағат бұрын
I think the turning point was just after the break, when Fr got a very kickable penalty and we chose to kick in touch to get a lineout - while we were decimated in lineout in the first half - And we socred a try. It showed a shifft in mindset and I believe there was less confidence in the AB plays. And it was a team decision, not a coach one. But that was a savagely intense game, it coudl have turn either way at the end, well played to AB, always a privilege to play against you =)

Jeff Wilson as commentator on my live stream, a total pain in the butt! Spent the whole game moaning about the ref!
@Alaster-3 сағат бұрын
Jeff was annoying (he normally is). That said, as a neutral, I thought the ref had a shocker, and vastly different calls to the half dozen other games I've watched this series. He was particularly inconsistent and missing a bunch of stuff that other refs are picking up. Even before Ratima got pinged, he was calling use it very inconsistently. Sometimes he'd allow a full caterpillar, next minute he's calling 5 before the ball has barely even been presented. He was frustrating me because as a player, you adapt and play to the ref - but when the ref is inconsistent it makes it impossible to know what you're allowed to get away with. It may not have changed the result of this game - but it would have been difficult to play under.

Best team for those 80 minutes won, France. I am an AB fan too. AB should have gone for a try not a bluddy kick. They didn't back themselves to win and went for a penalty when France has Ramos (this guy doesn't miss). French came out of the second half gunning for the win from the kick off and that intensity won them the day, because they were bold from the start. There is no safe/easy win against top tier nations.
