blink started as a punk band, before hitting commercial success with ‘Enema of the State’ in 1999, a huge pop punk success. This track is a single from their following 2001 album ‘Take Off Your Pants and Jacket’. Their following untitled album was a lot darker and more serious, and included their huge single ‘I Miss You’. I really recommend ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ (with interlude), ‘Down’, ‘Up All Night’ & After Midnight’. They had a lineup change when guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge quit in 2015, replaced by Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio (another great band!), releasing two studio albums ‘California’ in 2016 (‘California’ Deluxe in 2017) and ‘NINE’ in 2019. From the Skiba era I really recommend their single ‘Bored to Death’, as well as ‘Heaven’, ‘No Heart To Speak Of’ and ‘Remember to Forget Me’ 🤘🏼 Love the content and enjoy watching your videos! 🤘🏼

Some background! Blink are one of the big bands that influenced most pop punk artists (modern day). They formed in the 90’s I believe, but made it big in the early 2000’s. They originally just wanted to skate and make some stupid jokes, but they got more serious during their self titled album which was (in my opinion and in many others) their best album. One of their first big break through songs was “all the small things”, their songs got featured in many teen movies including American pie (of course ;)). Pop punk is stylised from both the pop scene and punk scene. Both Mark and Tom (bassist, and lead guitarist) were inspired from bands like NoFX. Travis (the drummer) was brought up on a larger variety of music and whilst being mainly inspired by punk.. he also has a background and deep love for hip hop. But plays a variety of styles on the drums :) Blinks lead vocalist and writer Tom left in 2014 (or 15..) and was ultimately replaced by Matt from Alkaline Trio. This was due to a few reasons, but mainly it was due to musical differences and where Tom wanted to go with blink.. evolution wise. Can’t be getting older and still singing about high school and teen relationships (which they moved away from but after Tom left... they sort of went back to). In my opinion blink were growing up with the fans.. but after Tom left it seems they tried to go back to the American Pie days. Which obviously wouldn’t work, but might appeal on those younger audiences. Anyway, great seeing the music still being appreciated. First date is a great song :) I’d advise checking out “violence” or “always”. These songs are amazing and there’s much more growth that’s evident in their musical skills and general production. “I miss you” is for sure the song you should start with if you’ve not heard the more serious side of their music :) do I miss you! Nice video

Nana King, you are the sweetest! And, in my opinion, Blink-182 was the group that made fun of itself as much as it made fun of everyone else! A live show by Blink was like going to a stand-up comedy show, too. Edit: No, not all their song videos were 70s-themed. They did that just for this one. For example, "All the Small Things" was a video that parodied/mocked a Backstreet Boys video.

Blink-182 really brought a certain style of pop punk/punk rock to mainstream. They loved to joke around and used a lot of inappropriate humor but that’s why we loved them. Fun songs, deep songs, an all around awesome band. Super relatable to every high school kid in the late 90s early 2000s. And to answer your question, not every video is set in the 70s. Fun fact: the guitarist got the idea for the first date video from a bee gees video he was Watching and came up with the idea that they have to make fun of them. Thus this videos theme was created. Great band!

The song isn't 70s themed, just the video. Drummer Travis Barker (their second drummer) was born in 1975 and founders Mark Hoppus (bass/vocals) was 1972 and Tom DeLonge (guitars/vocals) was also 1975. Tom later left the band. Tom was replaced by Matt Skiba who is still in Alkaline Trio and sounds and plays similar enough to make the transition smooth. Side note, Travis survived a deadly private plane crash with DJ AM formerly of Crazy Town and is the DJ in the house party scene in Iron Man 2, playing himself. The movie is dedicated to him. Both Travis and DJ AM suffered burns. DJ AM had been sober from a severe drug addiction which the pain meds reignited. He died of a drug overdose before the film was released.

Max and his Brother, Igor, formed Sepultura and recently Cavalera Conspiracy with Max's vocals and Igor playing drums. Soulfly still features Max's vocals but has his son, Zyon on drums ( on newer albums) My understanding is that it is the record labels that block the videos. Cavalera Conspiracy is a different label so it might not be blocked. Also you may be able to get permission from Nuclear Blast record labels to show the videos of both Soulfly and Sepultura. I love blink-182 so much. Sadly, the singer and guitarist from this song is no longer in the band. He got caught up in other projects, he has another band called Angels and Airwaves, that I highly recommend you check out, he also did an Indie film that came out in 2011 called Love, stylized as "L)VE" with a cresent moon. Not to be confused with the 2015 film of the same name starring Juaquin Phoenix, they are VERY different movies. Lol It's WAY more complicated than that, but I don't have time to type the whole story out, because it spans over a decade.

@@nanaking9560 Yeah. I'd recommend looking up the band's history if you wanna know more about that, because it's not something I can easily explain. Oh, he also made a 15 minute animated short film called Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker, which is on the official Angels and Airwaves KZbin channel.

You should also take into account the band’s history. It started with Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Tom was constantly working back to back with blink 182 and his own band, “Angels And Airwaves”. Eventually, they all came to the decision that he needed to leave and they replaced him with Matt Skiba a few years ago, allowing Tom to continue with his other band.

Blink’s first drummer was Scott Raynor who can be seen in the Dammit music video. Travis came in Enema of the State (1999) I believe

Agreed! Beautiful and sweet little lady with loads of charisma and a great presence in front of the camera. Media career definitely in the cards. Make sure you don't fall off into the shallow end of it though. You are way too deep to make meaningless videos. All the best to the 3 of you and everyone behind the camera as well. Much love : )

Actually, the Beach Boys recently produced a new album. As a huge fan of them growing up, I have to say, the new album is not great imo, but it was still cool to hear new stuff from them so many years later, I grew up in the 90s so Blink 182 was huge for me too (not sure how I got into Beach Boys since my parents didnt really listen to them) but I never thought about comparing the 2.
@nanaking95603 жыл бұрын
I got an immediate Beach Boy vibe from this band. Of course this is the only song I’ve heard by them. It’s not the look so much but the sound. Thanks Chris for your comments and keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🤘🏻🖤🎶
