3:08 Zoologist here. Every mammal has hair. Even marine mammals like dolphins (blowhole hair) or mammals like pangolins (their scales are modified hair). Also at 4:30, belugas are smart but that's not the braincase. That bump is called the melon and, as you can see from the video, it's squishy! You wouldn't want your brain somewhere squishy.

Seeing the video I have a hypothesis. Melon is used as a lens but for sound instead o light. Plus marine mammals normally are more sensitive to low frequency. The sound of the violin is pretty high, and it has to travel form the string, through the air, then pass through the glass and finally through the water. The resulting vibration will be really low in volume and pitch, therefore the beluga tries to ear it better by touching the glass.

Dolphins and belugas have incredible hearing at certain frequencies actually. Not sure what of the violin translates through the glass, but in the wild cetaceans are extremely vocal and responsive to music. It's really sad in captivity though. A dolphin or beluga trying to use sonar in a concrete tank is like a piccolo trying to play in a concrete subway bathroom. The amount of noise bouncing off the walls is physically painful and most cetaceans just go silent in response to the pain 😔

Fish can’t technically “hear” but they do feel vibrations and sounds and will respond. I knew someone who’s goldfish would respond when he sang going out to the pond. My betta likes certain songs on the piano, but starts flaring and getting mad at others, and some songs make him scared. So yes, I’d say fish and aquatic animals can “hear” or at least discern music.

Fish can't hear because they lack proper ears (actual holes in the head with membranes to transmit sound to nerve endings), but they have an organ called lateral line which is very sensitive to movement and vibration. Edit: but most important, let's keep in mind that belugas are MAMMALS.

“We practise” Ya ya we could practically hear how hard Eddy practises just by listening to the first note of his Sibelius. Don’t make excuses. Go practise.

Twoset should see the man in the second video playing jazz music to other elephants and they swing their heads with the tempo. It’s amazing

Belugas be like... "the music... the knowledge, I appreciate". Cat be like... "ssut up hooman i try to slep now". Sheep be like... "i eat moosic". and now i have learnt to jump on the piano if i want to stop the pianist.

I couldn't help but think of this: 7:07 and upgrade it a little bit : Ling Ling know everything Ling Ling knows all, Ling Ling knows you are not practicing at all.

Eddy's way of UwU-ing in 1:35 made it look like he was disgusted, annoyed or cringed because that is exactly what he does if some SACRILEGIOUS BOI plays the violin wrongingly.
