Every Monday I get up and contemplate trying to go home from work and go gold mining after I watch your videos in the morning lol, you and Jeff crack me up . I’ve always wonder if some old miner has ever hid his loot in some secret spot and I got lost to time, that was awesome when you found that can. Fantastic finds. My brother found some old musket balls in a yew tree he was planking up, unfortunately wrecked the saw blade but the lead made fantastic colours in the wood

Miner was probly scooping gravels into that old tin can from a bedrock crevice, wonder if he lost his spoon to? That round ball looks like a 36 caliber from a pattern 1800 baker rifle or trade musket! great finds and vid!

Silver coins were once cut up to pay ppl when they had no smaller coins. That’s what “pieces of 8” are, 1/8th of a coin. Not sure if yours are the same kinda thing though🤷♂️

There is a trail marker tree directly behind you. They are called Indian thong trees. They wee intentionally bent to mark trails before the was road signs!!! Some travelers would use them as places to stop and rest along and in between stops to their destination.

Back in the 80s I dredged in the around the American River I was forever losing tools I had an old-timer tell me to paint your tools blue I found out I could leave a small screwdriver in a 10 or 12 ft water hole and be able to glance at a second with that blue screwdriver you can spot it in a second the old-timers used to paint their stuff blue if they did not want to lose them anything blue in the water sticks out like a sore thumb by the way I never lost a tool after I started painting them blue
