I am surprise you were asked "Why don't you marry Japanese girl" these people probably don't understand love and thinks marriage is like shopping for groceries.
@petereast1447
@petereast1447 2 жыл бұрын
the people that ask this are obviously weebs and Japanophiles who don't care about true love. As long as they can integrate their weeb selves into a Japanese family, that's all they care about. A quite disturbing question, indeed.

Nice story TWC. She is SUCH a charming lady!! I got inspired to write this poem for you two. You may like it or you might say this is the worst poem you've ever read but here it goes. PS: I'm an Engineer, not a poet! 😉💕 . Two wheels plus two hearts make for one sweet ride May the wind be mostly at your backs When it's in the front may she aero tuck close behind you May there be very few flats along the way When you go on those uphill climbs Remember that two is always better than one May the sun warm you on those chilly winter rides And the clouds shield you on those blistering summer rides And may the lively cadence you two have Remain all the way to the end of the ride May your future plans be not derailed And may Thuong-chan's lovely smile Be the first thing you see when you wake up

My take on marriage is simply this: you can’t plan falling in love. It just happens when it happens. You have no control over it. Two people meet, certain things happen, and wham! Before you know it they’re crazy about each other. It’s a beautiful feeling indeed. Love just happens.

Vietnamese people and especially Vietnamese women are very hardworking people indeed. I'm from Vietnam but I grew up in France, I was used to the "French lazyness". When I went back to Vietnam the first time, it was a cultural shock. Everybody is working so hard everyday, doing hours and hours non stop. Whereas in France... they always complaining all the time about everything.

Two Wheel Cruise, on the wedding aspect section. Love to hear the Vietnam customs, as I had to pay a fee to wife’s friend to make the introduction to her Taiwanese parents. Before the wedding ceremony, had to pay that the other traditional fee to her parents which they returned to us as part of wedding gift, given it was just to maintain that tradition. Except that “friend” keep her $5K USD check fee. Also, did you have to track how much everyone gave at the wedding in a red ledger? As we have to pay back to those families at their next weddings, which it can’t be lower than what we got. Therefore, those red envelopes were just a loan with interest.

@@frankyu4967 Yeah, this guy has no idea what he's getting into. I am a Vietnamese person born in the US and I would never marry a Vietnamese woman. Vietnamese values can be rigid as well. My parents were from another past generation however and maybe Vietnamese culture has changed. Of course they approve a foreign guy. It means she can possibly move to America and that's a higher probability of a better life. Sounds simplistic but that's how it is when you come from a poor place. Vietnamese people can be too much about money. It's survival.

Jay Tee, I think Cruise will do ok, given her prior remark on first gift after 2 years of marriage, most guys would never get away with that stunt. Yes, I agree Vietnamese parents might be even more conservative than Taiwanese.

I once met a family in the Seattle area that was trilingual. I don't remember for sure what all the languages were, but, as I recall, he spoke German to his wife and children, she spoke Lithuanian to her husband and the children and the children replied in the language spoken to them. (I was amazed to see them switching back and forth instantaneously.) Of course they all spoke English with me and others outside the family. It can be done.

This is an absolutely beautiful story. I can relate to this so much. I'm Vietnamese, but I'm born and raised in California. And while I do have an understanding of my culture, I was quite bewildered by many customs from my girlfriend's native background. We are currently in a long-distance relationship since she's living in Hue right now. With everything going on, we don't know when we'll be able to see each other again (aside from the usual facetime). When I learned about how her lifestyle is and the stuff that is the norm for her, I was quite shocked. I didn't realize how lucky I had it. I can vouch about the financial part, what we make in shorter hours is way above what they could ever make even with a degree. And I agree with you about the whole thing about suddenly wanting to marry someone. I had the same mentality that I needed to this or that before we even thought about marrying. But something inside of me changed and I'm ready to take the next step, but time isn't on our side and we have to wait. And yes, the whole "buying the wife" thing is such an utter shock. I didn't know about that until I asked some friends. LOL. I've been following your channel for two weeks now, ever since I decided to look up Japanese-style bikes and discovered your "under $100 mamchari" video. I've been binge watching your videos and have learned a great deal. I only got back into biking since I started riding the bike I restored five years ago (I did everything wrong and it felt like it was going to fall apart every time I rode it. It's also from the 80's which got passed onto me during high school back in 2007). With some luck, I was able to find something perfect for my needs, a hybrid urban commuter/fitness. Anyway, I've rambled enough. Keep up the good work with your videos, I love the wholesome vibes of everything between you two. With luck, maybe I'll be able to meet you two once this pandemic subsides. Fingers crossed for spring 2021. For now, take care and be safe. :D

Hey Cruise, Just subscribed to your channel as one of your vids came up on my home screen a week ago. One of the first videos I watched on your channel is the one where you and your wife built her new mountain bike that you got her for Christmas recently. I find her enthusiasm for not just cycling, but life and adventure in general, quite contagious. I appreciate her sense of humour and it is quite admirable to see how she is helping her family and how she still maintains such a positive outlook. This video about how you met and got married is the one I skimmed your channel for so it is quite timely! I showed my wife a couple of your videos the other night and she felt the same as me about Thuong. She's not just a great companion to you but she adds some very solid elements to your channels purpose I feel. Its quite clear who the lucky one is in your relationship (lol). What a great story. Thanks for sharing. Your wife is precious and you must be a good dude in order for her to have married you. Congratulations to both of you. I wish I had developed an interest in foreign culture at a younger age. I'm envious of your life accomplishments. Keep doing what you are doing. Like the videos!

My husband and I love your videos! We’re American husband and Vietnamese wife as well. Thought I’ve never heard of the marriage tradition where the husband should/has to give money to the wife’s family in Vietnam. Maybe it’s an area culture?

I met my wife (Thai) while I was working in Vietnam. She asked me why I didn't date and marry a Viet girl. My answer, I fell in love with a Thai person.

i think some people who ask you to stay in japan think that since you have been living here for so long, it is basically your home and leaving it would mean that you would have to find a new one. However, i think that home is where your loved ones are with. Since no matter where you are going, Thoung is going to be by your side. It doesn't matter where you go as you will always have a home.

Kind of tacky for some person to ask why you did not marry a Japanese girl. She is beautiful. Thank God you found each other. Loved your Tannus reviews.

I must say this, TWC. I'm deeply touched by the 2 of you. Always remember the sacrifice you gave for each other. It was Love, and is, and will be, mutual . Oh, btw, i watched the whole 4 hrs of the both of you island hopping before i pondered on this episode.

Been browsing around and just happened to look for a review on Tannus tires, and you popped up first dude. Nice reviews about the tires, hope it holds on while doing 60kph. Anyway, what a beautiful love story, so interesting. Japan is such a beautiful country isn't it? Worked there in the early 90's, for six years, cycled around Gifu and Nagano ken, and stayed in Komaki/ Kasugai area. Oh how I miss Japan. Stay safe, and wishing you and your wife a blessed union. Greetings from the Philippines.😊

Couple of months dating and married? Wow. I'd need atleast five or six years of knowing a person for that, I would never rush into marriage. And you're very lucky to find a genuinely kind Vietnamese person, who is honest *hopefully* My experiences have been very different when dating Vietnamese for many years.

Thanks for sharing another great video. It's always interesting to hear people's stories, and learning a little more about different cultures, and you're really great for explaining those things. Those were some very nice roads that you were riding too. Have you noticed a big difference in the traffic volume during this Covid-19 situation? Cheers from Toronto!
