I’ve been studying the quadjet for a few weeks now. It does take a minute to wrap our head around it.

Thanks.that brought back good memories.my first rebuilt was a quad on a 87 elcamino 350. Was my dads car.got my licence and he said he will give me the keys to it if i got it running. All that was wrong was the accelerator pump.

Your power piston is all bent up! 😅 7:51 when your rebuilding you want to make sure that that is all level. ❤

Appreciate the video!!!! My only concern is.... you made it look so easy. Im gonna attempt it on my 78 corvette.

All things are possible through editing. The rebuild was easy though. It’s the setup that takes time.

Great video! I would like to find one of those Aneroid cup spacers? Mine came off a 1987 350 but did not have one of those in it.

The accelerator rod was originally connected to the hole closer to the pivot on the pump arm, but when you reassembled the carb, you connected it to the second hole. Did you notice any change in throttle response/drivability/gas mileage?

Will you rebuild my 1986 Quadrajet? Please!

The video is to show you how to do it and the resources you'll need. There are rebuilders out there, but I'm not one of them. Thank you for the vote of confidence, though I will admit editing can make anyone look like they know what they're doing. If I can do it, you can too. Good luck.

Hey, can you provide a link for that "walker products page" you mention... Just bought an 1970 Impala and will have to check the settings or rebuild the carb, but cannot find the factory recommended specifications for my car. Thanks!

very good video! I need some advice on something. I recently bought an 1986 chevy truck with a V6 4.3. It has a propane system on it and the original carburetor is no where to be found. I have a 78 quadrajet that I just rebuilt and would like to install it. the truck intake manifold is the original spreadbore quadrajet carburetor. Also this engine has the electronic spark control distributor without the vaccum advance. if I put this 78 carb I got on it do you think it will work just fine?

I don't know much about the conversion but it doesn't seem to be very complicated. I don't see the harm in trying. However, the propane system seems very interesting. Any reason in particular you're trying go convert back?

I'm going through the same process, my new carb gasket does not separate the primary's from the secondary's, does that matter?
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades2 жыл бұрын
If the old one did I would double check the carb kit compatibility against the carb's part numbner.

Hard to diagnose on the computer. did you squirt some fuel in the intake to make sure it's a fuel problem?

Trying to find one on Ebay for my C10 but they all look like total junk. Gonna have to buy 5 of them to make 1.

That is the way it is sometimes. That's why old timers have stockpiles.

I shaved all the casting marks off mine and bored the secondary ports out a tad as well as feathering the secondary butterflies. Adjusted the secondaries so that at wide open throttle they did not go over center. Shaved down the gaskets so they were flush with the corresponding sections of the carb and shellacked them. The carb flowed 850cfm when I was done and helped to make my little pickup go like a scalded cat.

That's pretty cool. I have never devoted that much effort to dialing in a carb before. That's some serious commitment.
