I'm so mad they put the Lick in Pets. I mean it's hilarious but also, goddamnit. Also, I thought Try-Force was all Danny, Brian, and Arin, no TWRP. Am I wrong?

@@Psychotria I wanted to blame the "Fart Lick" on Brian but now I know Sung is complicit 🤡

That last one shouldn’t count! as it’s assumed that Brian is playing the fart SFX on keyboard in This Song Sucks. But seriously amazing video :)
@Psychotria4 жыл бұрын
I see what you mean, but seeing as how sneaking the lick into music has been a TWRP thing, I'm far more inclined to believe that was TWRP's handiwork, whether in playing it or composing it. The Lick doesn't seem to be a thing that Ninja Brian is known to do.

@@PsychotriaI’m pretty sure it’s Brian playing sax on some of the TWRP songs in this video. I could very much see that being his doing too

ok so me and my friend have listened to a good amount of TWRP and we could have sworn we heard a song where it was like almost nothing except the lick. are we just crazy?

The lick is just a legendary(and cliche) musical phrase that a lot of musicians(especially those who play jazz) are familiar with because it's used so much. Finding ways to sneak it into their songs is basically just a running gag at this point, and probably related to their ongoing antics when engaging with fans who ask about about their musical influence; they'll(particularly meouch) insist that "there's nothing but jazz", or something to that effect. They also have on-stage bits now where Sung will be talking to the crowd and the rest of the members will start playing smooth jazz out of nowhere.

Why is it called The Lick?

In music, a lick is another word for riff or short melodic phrase. It’s widespread use for in music, particularly Jazz, makes it THE lick.
