You use the plastic cone with the 580/540/530/international filler to get over the problem of filling with only a small amount of ink left in the bottle. Same procedure of turning the bottle over before filling applies, of course. So having it in *is* "buying you something" unlike what you say at 03:50 and works all the way to the bottom getting over your 07:07 complaint. Thanks for all the videos!

Levenger ink also has the spout in their inkwells. Thanks Brian, I did not know how to use it when filling a regular pen and one where the ink is low. Too cool!!!

Carolyn Young many a manufacturer make so-called "inner inkwells". Visconti, among others named, also adds this to their ink bottles. Also what do you think of Levenger inks? I have tried Cocoa, Regal and Cobalt Blue and now I'm hesitant about other colors I was going to get.

Levenger Ink Bottles come with this adaptor inside. I bought my first fountain pen and ink from them 15 years ago. I never could figure out how to use the bottle until I saw this video last year. (the whole tip it up to fill it...) I tried to get the plastic piece to come out but couldn't. lol --- Until I learned what it was for, I was frustrated trying to fill my pens a lot.. Thanks for giving us so much NEEDED information.

I wanted to love this inkwell so much, unfortunately it leaks quite a bit when I turn it over. Is there any solution to this? I've tightened the lid quite a bit with no luck. Maybe It's a defect and I should exchange it?

Wet noodles are a term used for vintage flex pens, and pretty much nothing today is made to those specifications, for whatever reason. You pretty much have to go vintage (not my area of expertise), or pay big bucks for a nibmeister to grind you something custom.

I'm not familiar with it at all (it's not a pen brought into the US), and I only found one site that has it. There's not much info there, but it looks like a fairly 'normal' Pilot pen. It fits a con-20/50, and that's about all I know.

They do have the resemblance. They quite worth the price (I got it for US$8) given that I've also got 50ml of decent black ink (pretty black!), the ink is also on the relatively wet side, at least my bottle is, which I enjoy, but can get annoying with a flex nib. Oh with that in mind, do you know of any wet noodles out there?

Neither the Diamond 50 nor the Vac20A are designed to work well with the Eco. They need pens with removable nib units which the Eco does not have. That said, you can still use it like a traditional inkpot and remove the cap altogether. - Colin

This is great, i am looking to dip my pen in a container to write. One of my waterman pens that I love a lot is not getting the ink from the cartridge, so do you think if I buy this and use the inside plastic to dip my pen in it, that it would work?

This inkwell is incompatible with the Vac series pens. You want the TWSBI Vac-20 for the inkwell purpose designed for those. Goulet has a video about it too!

Maybe it's me being a cynic, but I'm guessing the lack of such a simple method to get ink into a pen from a low level is so you can't use up every drop of ink and have to buy a new bottle of ink.

Could'nt you carry this plastic cone thing ? When the level is too low, I grab my syringe and needle and go get the ink like this. Then I just push it back in my converter. The cone thing is definitely more convenient !

I've had my diamond mini for a week now, and I've tried unscrewing the grip section like you show in this video, but it is REALLY TIGHT. It makes an unpleasant sound when I try to force it a bit and I'm just terrified it'll crack, or something. Is it really as simple as untwisting it?? I don't want it to break! Is it normal for it to be so tight?

Are there any other products like this for Pilot fountain pens? I'd like a way to fill my pens without making a mess. I know when using bottled ink a little mess is a necessary hazard of the hobby, but I can't imagine clients or the courtroom taking me seriously with splotches on my fingers in my near future. Is there another way to use bottled ink without needing blotting paper?

The TWSBI Vac700R is definitely top dog here with a 2.37ml ink capacity. The Vac Mini is second with a 2ml capacity. If you want to go the piston filling route instead, the Diamond 580 has a 1.98ml ink capacity. Really can't go wrong with any of those 3. - Colin
