Well am I glad to find another left handed shooter who experiences problems with loading the TX200 Mk3. I recently made a video using my TX200, together with a friend who had his HW97K, and together we set out to hunt the Grey Squirrels in the woods where I work. I have installed the TINBUM Tuning kit in my TX, and in that kit they supply all new spring guides, Top Hat, but they are made out of nylon, and therefore eliminate any metal to metal "Clang". If you care to watch my video, you can clearly hear the Clang from the HW97K, compared to my TX, that just sounds like a PCP. For a bit more consistency and improved accuracy, try shooting the TX with an AirArms moderator, that screws into the thread, found on the Hunter Carbine version. Great video, all the best David

Earned yourself a sub on this one sir. Been looking to pick one of these up for a while now, as I only own PCP (Weirauch HW100 & 110 and a Daystate Regal XL - all in 22). These 200's appear very well made and that tune-up quiets the spring harmonics down completely (!), which was why I held off on a springer. Those power spreads really tighten up too. I agree that second hand is the way to go.

Great to have you aboard, my friend. I was really into PCPs for about ten years, so I know how addictive they can be. There's just something about a quality springer. They've got individual personalities. They not only challenge but reward as well.

As a European, it's all your fault. In the States, prior to the mid 60s or so, airguns were for kids. On your side of the pond, because of the restrictions on firearms, airguns became serious tools built and marketed for adults. You're the guys who perfected the design while creating many variations of the basic design. So I have you to thank for my love of these guns. 😊

@@razor1962 I put the 12# kit in this morning, took me maybe 40 minutes. The difference is amazing, with a wonderful shot cycle from cocking to firing. I use a Capri torque driver, and after completely disassembling the rifle including taking the scope off, when I put it all back together it shot to exactly the same point of aim, not one click off. The new seal was easy, after dropping it in hot water for a couple of minutes it snapped right on. Thanks for the boost.

Thanks, Reg. It's a wonderfully constructed and finished rifle. The walnut version is probably the prettiest factory stock on any piston gun currently in production. great video, I actually spoke to air arms many years ago to discuss the power rating of tx 200s , The full power export model (which you have) is designed to run at 16ftlbs of energy in .22 and 14ftlbs in .177, The difference in standard and export models is the actual stroke of the piston ( swept volume) . Considering you have removed the piston weight (which is needed to attain power levels ) You have done extremely well getting it to over 15ftlbs and shooting very nicely . Ive a feeling putting the weight back would increase it to over 16 ftlbs but probably wouldnt shoot as sweet ,, great video , thanks for sharing and keep em coming , all the best tony ( uk) .. ps i have a walnut air arms prosport in .177 , its a keeper for sure

The AA TX200 is probably one of the UK's most popular under lever spring rifles. What you need to complement it is the break barrel AA Pro Sport which is even better. Your TX200 is actually quite spring noisy compared to those I have shot in the UK but remember most are sub 12ftlbs. Maybe it's been dry fired?

Having owned a few of both types of rifle, I'd say the TX is higher quality and a better design than the HW, maybe not twice as good but pride of ownership is priceless. The one advantage the HW has over the TX is the underlever release catch, I always found the TX release made my soft little fingers sore after a while. The TX is far easier to work on than the HW, and should you have to field strip a TX, it can be done with hardly any tools and the scope can be left on, the same can't be said of the HW.

Yep that sounds horrible Kevin even from as far away as I am lol! AirArms spring piston rifles are generally nicely put together including friction free nylon bearings and piston rings what you'll find is that the parts are a 'one size fits all'. I discovered my mk2 .177 ProSport had a guide tube that slid off the mainspring which no doubt contributed to that annoying resonance felt during the firing cycle which I too find very distracting.

@@razor1962 kevin internally the prosport is identical to the tx and comes apart very easily. The action is mounted on an aluminium frame that incorporates the flush fitting under lever. Its all self explanatory when you take the stock off. Ken Turner rifles were always designed for ease of maintenance. Actually for many years I have had in my custodian Kens early breech loading ft match rifle(kt83) that he hand built from stainless steel, again comes apart much the same as the tx/ps and pro elite. Going back to the prosport you have to flip the underlever in open position when removing the stock and same for re assemble.

@@razor1962 Ok , thanks . I understand now and so glad that you replied so quickly. I’m about to install my 3rd PG Vortek HO tune kit in my Tx . For some reason I always dismantled the cocking arm and shoe in order to pull the piston sleeve? But there was no need to do this. However the first tear down I did polish the inside of the sleeve to a mirror finish. Concerning the Vortek Tune kit, my gun was much more accurate after the installation. Unfortunately the springs for the TX don’t seem to last very long ? About 2 years ago I installed the same kit in my Beeman R9 and a 12 ft lb in my HH 97k . I shoot every day and they are actually shooting better than when first installed.

Great video like all the ones you have available. Your vibe and enjoyment of springers is contagious and fun to share. I have two questions. First, I note you "tune" a lot of your guns as your recent installation of a Vortek PG4 kit in your TX200. Are these kits made for each specific gun like one for the TX200 and for example, another for the HW97K which you own? If not, dont you lose some aspect of what makes each gun unique, i.e., the spring! I would think the spring in a TX200 and the HW97K are different and determine the personality and certainly the power of the gun. Second question: I ordered a HW97K after watching your video and your accolades on the gun. Can you do a video, like the one for the TX200 (which I own) on how to put a Vortek kit in that? I hear the HWs are a tad harder than the Air Arms to work on. Love your videos. Keep them coming please!
@razor1962
@razor1962 Жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, Thanks so much for your kind words. So glad to know that you're enjoying the channel. Tune kits from say, Vortek or ARH are specific to the model gun. So yes, there's a kit for the HW97K and there's a kit for the TX200. The two are not interchangeable. As far as changing the personality of the gun goes...These kits absolutely change the personality of the rifle. That's the whole point. It takes a terrific gun to the next level. I'd love to make a video on installation of a Vortek kit in 97K but mine is shooting so well that I have no plans to tear it down at the moment. Unfortunately, my channel wasn't up and running when I did the install on my 97K. If there's anyone out there with a 97K who wants to add a Vortek PG4 kit to it. I'll do the job for free if you supply the gun, the kit and the shipping both ways and I'll make a video detailing the process. That's the best I can do for you Jon unless my 97 has an internal failure and needs to be redone. Thanks again my friend and thanks for watching.

Hi Steve. Unfortunately, there aren't many options for an off the shelf, left-hand rifle. However, there are many options in ambidextrous configuration. The only dedicated left-handed off the shelf air rifle that comes to mind is the TX200. Most guns with a cheek piece on the wrong side are still quite usable for a lefty.
