The first 2 mins was the best description of how CG works in clubs is probably the best I've ever herd, and again in less than 2 mins. I feel like I want to get a full bag fit at TXG (I know stating the obvious), but then just pay an extra $100 to just talk about fitting and club theory for another hour or so. Just grab a coffee and talk nerdy golf stuff. This channel is a 100% blast!

Having been introduced to @TXG only a year ago and now having watched a large chunk of the back catalogue its been great to see what hard work and determination can do. For this particular session, once again, that TSi3 is performing as well as any club could with any elite golfer and that is a testament to the player. well done.

TSI4 in the thumbnail: “Mr. Matty Boy, I don’t feel so good”
@95redz3 жыл бұрын
I’ve built my TS3 driver to be a really well balanced wind machine using many of the principles I’ve learnt from this channel and other sources. I’ve got an 8.5 head paired with a Tensei Pro Orange 70 TX tipped 1.5” and I’ve got 5g of lead tape to bring the CG forward more. I’m very similar SS and ball numbers to Matty Boy (and LH). I’m around in the 175-182 ball speed range and I often see spin in the 1800-2100 range with “high” spin balls being 2300. Amazing build for where I play (35km/hr winds is the normal). I’m going in 3 weeks to get fitted for irons and I’ll be trying some new titliest driver combos to! Great work guys

This is exactly why I got fit into the M5 tour a couple years ago. Where I play a 10 mph wind is a calm day. I can hit it lower if I want but also can hit high launch low spin bombs when I don’t have to fight the wind.
@GRIFF222 жыл бұрын
This video more than any other highlights why it's vital to consider your local course conditions when you get fitted. I play in South Wales which is very windy and play quite a low forward flight. In still perfect conditions my driver wouldn't be optimal, but I very rarely play a day with that scenario. Recently played with an opponent who had a high flight, we were neck and neck when it was still starting out, then the wind picked up. Downwind he had me by 10, but into the wind I had him by up to 25/30 yards. Looking at these two flights, I'd pick the TSi4, absolute no brainer.

Hey Ian (and Matt!), fellow club-builder and fitter here up in Aurora with a question for you! (Although I have many as I'm aspiring to get to Ian's level of club-knowledge) Ian, at 4:02 when you mention that you see an increase in spin rate with TSi3's higher CG, why does this occur? I know it must be relative to the strike location, namely gear effect. Wouldn't a higher CG location warrant a lower spin-rate all else constant? Or is it because of an increase in dynamic loft from the CG being further back in the head (positive relationship between spin rate and horizontal CG?) I will be commenting on most of your videos nowadays as I am yearning to learn this next level club-fitting knowledge so expect to see me again! Thank you for the content guys, you are truly the best golf content out there and one day I'd love to be fit by Ian! -Tom

Hey Ian, can you discuss why efficiency seems to be low? I know there's a discrepancy between Trackman (1.5 optimal) and GC Quad, but I've seen people get high 1.4s with the quad. Contact seems to be square/near center face so I'm surprised 1.44 is the max I've seen on the channel and avg is typically 1.42ish I think.
@mvansb233 жыл бұрын
awesome video. Learning a lot with this one and the anti slice driver video. I have a random question on GC Quads super low spinners. I got fit for a driver at club champion recently. I brought my GC Quad with me and compared output. I know trackman struggles a bit indoors. But on the few ultra low 900 backspin dive bombers that GC Quad simulates - the trackman had significantly higher spin and carry. On average - carry on good strikes was higher on GC quad. Is it possible GC quad’s dive bombers out erroneous? I get them a fair amount - but I never see them on course. I’ve never had the super fast ball speed 900 rpm shot on course that goes 180 yards and falls out of the sky. The trackman plus my on course experience makes me thing GC quad is out to lunch on the dive bombers. If it is - that’s seems like a bit of a fitting problem. If someone steers away from a low spin driver thinking they’ll not be able to keep it in the air.

Guys...love this test. I'm always looking for lower spin from my driver since I'm a little steep on my down swing and too old to change that at this point :-) And despite being a mid/high handicap, I've used a 425cc model before and didn't mind the smaller head. One question I have is, how the TSi4 performs on off-center strikes...typical amateur misses: low in the heel and high in toe? Since Matt's misses are so small, we don't get to see much about that. One last observation...anytime Matt comments that he hit one well, it always seems to have a bit more draw. Obviously the swing he's most comfortable with. :-D

hey matt and ian, i have some questions. i’m a college golfer and i have never been “professionally fit” for clubs. the first real set of clubs i got when i was 16 were half an inch longer than standard and i’ve always got that length ever since just because that’s what was recommended to me (i’m about 6’2). however, i have been doing some research and have discovered that according to my wrist to floor measurement relative to my height, i should be using either .25 of an inch shorter than standard, or standard. that means that my clubs are 3/4 of an inch too long for me. how much might it help my game and posture if i get clubs that are the right length for my arms?

Following up on the idea from this weeks live..maybe a fun test idea- Matty’s gamer, so 45 inch at about D3-4 SwingWeight with 196-197 head weight (all assumptions) vs the same exact head but remove the back weight and add an inch. So then it’s 46 inch at about D5-D6 with a 188 gram head weight. What will yield better results? The more moi head? Or the speed from the lighter head???
