As a 45-year veteran Radio announcer and nightclub entertainer that's worked with the BEST country artists on the planet, (Not including today's "Boom-Cracka-Rocka Hick-Hop CRAP!) I'd like to add: "Naysayers be DAMNED, Dale Watson and his Lone Stars are the BEST Honky-Tonk outfit playin' today!" (and I've seen them ALL!) Dale caught my attention back in 1995-'96 with his Truck-drivin' songs and original style. My Country Dance Club customers loved his tunes, even BEFORE they knew who he was! Shadows and influences of previous greats affect ALL types of music, no matter the format or the genre. Dale shows respect and admiration for his heroes, while maintaining his (and the band's) own style. You self-appointed critics can point fingers and make comparisons all you want, but until you can do better: "Shut the HELL up!" Cowboy Cody said so!

Right on my man...Dale's definatlly the real deal. I played drums on the 1996 CD "Blessed or Damned". Dale & I go back to the 80's in Pasadena, Tx. I was the house band drummer out there @ Gilley's for 11 years, 6 nights a week...peace, Terry Westbrook

Driving from San Francisco, I stopped in Austin and Stumbled into the Continental Club one night in 2003 or 4, and met Dale. I fell in love that night with this treasure of a man. Made it back a year later for another show, asked Dale to sign my electric; He did so in the middle of the show. If I was a woman I'd have tossed my key and flowers on that Continental Club stage. Magic in his voice, lyrics, guitar, amp and presence. Thanks Dale for being you.

The Texas Music Scene TV so much!!! I'll probably never have the opportunity to see alot of the people you feature live. Thank you for making it so I can still have the experience. There is something special about a stage performance over a studio recordes song.

Thank god for Dale and Dwight for keeping country music alive. I can't listen to the pure sh*t that comes out of Nashville anymore. Really, really bad music. But Dale keeps up the tradition of good music.

@alan4sure John Hartford wrote the song. I happen to think that Dale Watson does a better version of Gentle on My Mind through Carryin On This Way than Glenn Campbell did doing Carrying On This Way Through Gently On My Mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hartford is dead so the estate would have to sue Dale. And so would about 500 other estates out there who could sue artists for borrowing hooks and leads. All you would do is make the pigfat attorneys richer than they already are. Good Day!!!!!!!!

Sounds like he plagiarized it from Glen Campbell's 60's hit "Gentle on my mind." The verse is note for note. He should be dragged into court, just like poor old George Harrison.
