Having just seen "Beaches" for the umpteenth time, I believe from every aspect, Mayim's performance is the best "child" performance ever on the big screen. Nuanced and simply wonderful. A gem that never gets stale.

When "Beaches" first came out, it was like they made a movie from mine and my best friends lives. We met very young (almost 40 years ago), and we had complete opposite personalities. Our story is way too long to type out. She ended up moving 1500 miles away. But, we are still the best of friends. Every time we visit each other, we grab our popcorn, and we sit down and watch "Beaches." We've even watched it over the phone a few times when it was playing on TV. We laugh, we cry, and we start comparing every scene to our friendship and just crack up. This movie will always mean more to the both of us than anything else we've ever held onto for almost 40 years. 💛💛

My best friend from childhood, starting 56 years ago, is still one of my best friends. We weren’t alike at all. Yet, in all these years, we’ve never had one fight or even a disagreement. We have always just accepted each other for who we are. Isn’t it funny, that as we get older, we resort to the ‘birds of a feather’ mentality when choosing friends? When in reality, we’d be much more well-rounded if we chose friends with different feathers, or fur, or scales, or skin.

They could not have possibly found a better little girl to play the young C.C. Bloom. I was even younger than Mayim when the film came out (I tagged along with my aunt to the cinema). Even then I was a Bette Midler fan and I loved Mayim as her younger doppelganger. As I've grown over the years, the film has been a constant in my life; I'm very much a C.C. and one of my dearest friends identifies with Hillary. "Beaches" is our movie. Oh! And we're both drag queens. Ha! We don't see each other often, but I know we'll always have this movie to remind us of each other.

I saw Beaches shortly after it was released and was really amazed at how like Midler this girl was - not just in looks but in 'personality' as well. And I loved her performance, she really stood out. I was happy to hear that she landed a series after that, although I never saw it (I think it was a kid's show). I understand she's on a sit-com now too (or was?), so glad she's had a successful career!

There was me and 2 other girls who I been friends with since I was about 12. The 3 of us were always together, in each other's wedding, had babies around the same time, buried parents. Well on 9/13/2019 our friend Cathy passed away. We knew she was dying. We went to the beach and sat on the sand, walked a little, had coffee at sunrise looking out at the ocean. And all the while I kept hearing Wind Beneath My Wings in my head. Now there's only the two of us left. Not a day goes by that we don't at least text.

Love this video. You seem like such a nice person and so grounded. Your folks really raised you wonderful. So happy for you. You sound like you deserve a great life. I also have two boys. They are grown now. Please hug and enjoy them every single day. Because they grow up so fast.
