I notice a lot of awkward moments when Mayim does a segment. This is because she is so intelligent and she can outmatch or our banter the host, and the American audiences are too shallow and slow to understand it. It’s really ridiculous because she is such an amazing and wonderful person, but she’s perceived as awkward because her intellect goes over the majority of simpletons who watch her interviews.
@kurtsudheim825 Жыл бұрын
Intelligence & sense of humour are linked in certain areas, but not necessarily always together. In fact it's often the opposite as humour is a more social thing. & what does being shallow have to do with anything?
@Padraigp Жыл бұрын
@@kurtsudheim825 so usually, however intellegent a guest is, the pattern of these talk shows is very shallow ...very surface.... when a guest doesnt just follow the superficial banter pattern ..that can come across as akward ...just the same as people you meet at a bus stop they say hi how are you you say how are you lovely weather isnt yes its turned very cold but nice to see the stretch coming in still better get the fire in ..back and forth as a superficial script which most people follow. If someone says hi how are you and you say well im really feeling the expansiveness of things i feel very grounded how are you? The going off script from the superfluous expected patter is a bit awkward. And so youre correct that intellgent people can also be bad at the social especially the socially superficial meaningless chatter. These shows are known for that chatter and shallowness. Shes going into actual answers which is making the audience awkward. Because she is smart and also not just smart but not up for the usual pattern of banter.

I'm going crazy with happiness. Long sleepy brain cells are awaking in my head. Mayim and Stephen are talking religion and sci-fi. Talking intelligently and with humor. Boy, do we need more of that. Please consider a longer conversation. Perhaps Mayim would invite Stephen onto Grok Nation (big fan here) and they could continue this conversation. Another fun idea...how about a remake of Stranger in a Strange Land starring Stephen as Michael Smith and Mayim as Mary Jane. Pretty Please!
A little disappointed she made fun of his religious beliefs after being so in awe of her own, though.

@@tannwich5350 I think she was just caught off guard in so far as talking lightly about belief; part of that political correctness "All either-or None approach" speech for casual prime time late show banter fluff. I have no problem with those two co existing as long as people understand that those are not equal ways of describing our universe or answering questions. Like when there are real questions and real problems we have to solve and answer them with scientifically provable facts. People have to understand that it's not like a 50/50 thing that there exists a good - " either he(/she) does or he(/she) doesn't". That's just bullshit, we have literally tested e.g. the special theory of relativity thousands of times and it worked every time, perfectly! But to this day I haven't seen one conclusive proof that there is a good. And you're going and saying "but we haven't disproven a god either". Yeah that's true, but in science(and in fact in our day to day lives either) it doesn't work that way. We don't believe something until it is proven!

Glen Winstein Ummm, let's see: #1: No, not really. When you talk about the death penalty in the Bible, these are the rules: in order to be guilty as charged you need to have had two warnings about committing the act in question, and two witnesses of said act. So, rampant deviant executions? Hardly, if ever. #2: This is, generally speaking, a natural concept. There IS room for exceptions in Judaism. "Men run things"? Hardly. Men do x, women do y, but both need each other to "run things". #3: Judaism does not have the concept of "prisons". Instead, criminals were made to work off their debt through service & restriction. The "master", however, was obligated to treat the servant MUCH better than he treated himself for the duration of the servitude. There's a saying: one who gains a slave, gains a master. #4: Same as #1. Also, ONLY fellow Jews were subject to any penalties prescribed in the Torah for "religious reasons". #5: "Cherem" means "excommunication", not "holy war". Cheers.
