For sure. My wife is a stylist and she gets all of her scissors out of Japan. They are on a different level in terms of quality.

The notched version is even more capable since you can get whatever you are cutting closer to the Fulcrum without it slipping up and ending up needing more force.

I started off buying the straight cut 71 12 200 version and then quickly decided I wanted the 20* angled/recessed cut version after seeing how many different versions of this tool they had - just like you. I opted to go to the regular dipped grip on my angled cutter though - the straight-cut comfort grips live in my personal pick-up truck toolbag and the angled cutters get used in HVAC - mostly to cut off un-needed motor mounting screws and self-tappers that protrude too far and pose a hazard to flesh or copper coils.

They have a bigger 250mm (10 in) version also. For steel rope and bowden cables, a dedicated wire rope cutter such as 95 61 190 will give much better and cleaner results.

The larger version is the one I haven’t purchased yet. I definitely know what you mean by getting a cleaner cut result in cable with the 95 61 190. That is one that I just recently did a review on.

The 10in is fantastic. Ive got a set that i really like. Only issue is that they don’t work great with 1 hand unless you choke up pretty far on the grip which makes their leverage advantage no longer matter. But if you are cutting tough stuff they really work well with two hands.

Where these really shine over standard side cuts is when it's a repetitive task. As you say the effort is so much less and these will cut a 8.8 1/4" bolt even without doing the squeeze and creep thing. Didn't realise there were THAT many models though!

@@txtoolcrib The thicker double stuff material handles on the other models,make the handle opening too wide,which makes cut more difficult.The 20 degrees angled head and the recess on the teeth will help the tool do more and do them easier. The spring system and other extras on the other models, make the tool heavier and I want it more portable,with less points of potential failure,All these in theory ofcourse because I have not got in my hands one yet but probably will soon do. Great tool. Retired carpenter, EDC'r and a prepper. People put them in Get Home bags or BOB's in case they come up against a chain link fence to cross so they can cut through it. I'm about to buy the 'R' version which is supposed to stand for 'Robust' with the space between the blades. Twice in the past a customer took my Channellock electricians pliers and decided to cut live wire and each time it blew a small hole in the cutting edge on one side turning them into wire strippers. Would you know what the 'SBA' stands for in 'Knipex 7131200 SBA High Leverage'

I damaged these cutting thru romex staples. Not sure if I can repair them or should I get larger 10” version. They are very stiff and feel stuck but I can not visibly see any damage to them and tried applying oil but no luck.

I’m considering the small version to carry in my bunker gear pocket at the fire house. Will the small version cut chain link fencing pretty easily? That’s about the largest stuff we see. Other than that we worry about drop ceiling wire.

have both types if I could only have one I would opt for the notched version - mine are mainly used for cutting 2.5 hi-tensile rural fence wire

It is a bolt cutter. You will get a cleaner cut of the wire with a cable cutter or even with a diagonal cutter. Right, it's a specialist tool, used it as intended.

Great video brother ! These are A little pricey tho. Harbor Freight has the best price I have seen on bolt cutters. They are high quality and work great. As long as you dont get sick after using them LOL !

I don't try much from Harbor Freight, because frankly they left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth over the years from products I have purchased from them. I will say that it seems their quality level has risen dramatically over the years though. I may have to give them a second look.

@@txtoolcrib really? I have heard that before when they first started opening up, but not for years now. My local stores have either 4.5 or 5 star Google ratings for years now. You still have to watch some of their items, the feedback on some of their Pneumatic items is so-so, but their hand tools, gloves, tarps, electric tools are just as good as any competitor. Plus their coupons and return policy is great also ! Give them another try, I dont buy everything there, but almost lol

David Louis MAC Axis ratchets are some of the best made. They also warranty there drill bits.... yes you read that right. Personally I don’t mind saving some money and getting Doyle pliers at HF.
