Tell that to the Kraft/fans that wanted him gone. All because Bill didn't wrap his arm around that Jag Mac.

100% correct. It's not for the lack of trying, he tried to make Mac work, just Mac wasn't good enough in the sense of him being like Law, Brady, Edelman and all the other Patriot greats, when Bill came down on them, they worked 100 times harder and got that much better, when Bill came down on Mac, Mac went crying on the phone to his friend and old coaches. Which is no surprise why he never got any better.

Yes, Bill being let go was a travesty. There are so many people who want to give Brady all of the credit for the success the team had, and they either forgot or don't want to acknowledge that Brady learned from Bill. I've seen so many former players make the same comment we heard here about how Bill would tell them the keys to winning a game, and it would go exactly as he said. He should be coaching right now.
@chadbinette3201
@chadbinette3201 2 күн бұрын
@GenoBady2738 so hiring Patricia as the oc was trying? Hiring a special teams coach as the QB coach was trying? Drafting punters and gunners when your offense can't score 17 pts is trying? Bringing in the ghost of Zeke and juju was trying? Couldn't pay Myers a player who worked in the system with the QB , was younger and better but instead pay juju the same money? Juju hadn't done squat since AB left Pittsburgh. Yet coaches like harbough, Reid and Tomlin can be competitive with multiple QBs? Belichick has had 10 SEASONS WITHOUT BRADY, not a small sample and has ONE playoff win back in 1995. Belichick would of went with Jimmy glass in 2016/17 and the pats would have two less Superbowls and bill been fired 5 years ago. Belichick picked the players, coaches , waterboys and everything in between, he made his bed now lay in it and twirl your whistle.

Belichek is exactly what you want in a coach as a player. He’s going to have you completely prepared for anything that happens and if something happens that he didn’t prepare you for he’ll take all the blame. I would speculate that Belichek probably spends 90% of his time during the season in his office preparing for the games.

Great insights on Bellichick, explains why his assistant coaches fail so often on their own because Bill makes their job so easy to just stick to their task because he already knows their job better than they do and ultimately Bill is the one that signs off on what they Wana run on defense or offense against an opponent. In essence, even tho he has coordinators Bill is still doing everyone's job

I want to hear more about the Carroll years. During that time, they dealt with a ton of injuries to their best players, had horrible drafts and let some key players walk including the Curtis Martin debacle. While the players may not have liked the rah rah style of Pete, they easily return to 1997 AFCCG with a healthy squad. Going 2-4 against the Parcells’ Jets was embarrassing for Bob Kraft - especially the heavily favored MNF game in 1999 led by a former special teamed subbing in at QB (Ray Lucas).

people who played for Dean Smith at North Carolina would say the same thing, "If he told something was going to happen, it usually happened exactly as he said it would." Wow this a great interview. Huge fan of those early Patriots teams because I enjoy watching good defense. Ty Law was fun to watch even at Michigan. What a football mind, both he and Belichick.
