Duran Duran, as a band, writes all of their songs. They will work together in the studio and also each by themselves when they need a creative breakthrough, then they come together again as a team! I have been a lifelong Duranie, too. I saw them 17 times in concert and was in The Reflex video back in 1984.

Simon Le Bon(DD) and Morten Harket(A-ha) are for me the 2 strongest and most impactful,iconic frontmen of the '80s and possibly of all decades in mainstream pop-music industry.Simon is an explosive live performer on stage.Impulsive and in full motion all the time.He's the Mick Jagger of pop.Who would't like to have these 2 men in their band?!Great track,great teenage memories.DD were self taught musicians and songwritters as well.They were not" puppets" to any other songwritting team and that's a privilidge that gave them artistic freedom.Try the exotic "SAVE A PRAYER" or the "luxurious" n adventurous "RIO" next ones or even the groovy " Notorious" and "I don;t want your love" since you mentioned this.That last one's a real "kicker."
@alexioverdo52252 жыл бұрын
Roger Taylor-their drummer- is one of the best and most inventive ones in the business and a very nice person along with Blondie's drummer Clem Burke imo.Same praising goes for the very interesting and colorful keyboardist Nick Rhodes.Thank you for your mentioning him.He was/is the most artistic guy that gave a special breath to the bands' "photofilmodiscographic" legacy.

To this day it's still the most popular Bond Song.. Was written in one week and it's a masterpiece. Sooo Duran Duran and sooo Bond in perfect combination 👍 you should do Rio.. You have to do the ultimate Duran Duran 80s song.. And being the expert on Duran Duran i will tell you Simon writes the songs for the band and Nick is a huge influence on the sound as they call him the "controller" of the band but Simon writes all the lyrics.. If you want Simons ultimate masterpiece is Ordinary World.. They to this day get more mail about that song than any other and they never do a show without preforming that song.. You should definitely have your son hear that one 👍

I believe The Power Station may have been done or were still recording their album when Duran Duran recorded their single, A View To A Kill back in the Spring of 1985. And then, Arcadia started recording their album. I say this because this is Duran Duran's last recording together- before Andy and Roger left the band- as a five-piece until 2001. Which leads me to suggest Some Like It Hot as a reaction by The Power Station - which has great guitar work and a solo by Andy (and of course The Power Station was formed by John Taylor and Andy Taylor and included Roger Taylor), and I'd suggest Election Day by Arcadia (which was formed by Nick Rhodes and Simon Le Bon, also including Roger Taylor).

A View To A Kill was Duran Duran's second #1 single in the U.S.- their first U.S. #1 was The Reflex. However, A View To A Kill could have been Duran Duran's third consecutive #1 if it wasn't for two artists. The first is Daryl Hall & John Oates, who had their single, Out Of Touch at #1 when Duran Duran's single, The Wild Boys (released in between The Reflex and A View To A Kill) entered its first week at #2 and up from #4. After that first week at #2, the second artist, Madonna, leapfrogged The Wild Boys into the #1 position from #3 with Like A Virgin- keeping Duran Duran in the #2 position. The Wild Boys remained there for 3 more weeks until The Wild Boys, after four consecutive weeks at #2, dropped to #3. Interestingly, The Wild Boys and Like A Virgin were both produced by Nile Rodgers. Not bad for Rodgers who had two top hits in late 1984 and in early 1985 by two separatist artist.. They don't call Rodgers, "The Hitmaker" for nothing!

I had the sheet music for this back in the mid 1980's & played it on the piano back then. The trumpet stabs are iconic for it for two things... 1. they are the trumpets for generic Bond/spy movies ... 2. the music sampling thing was just starting out back then with many bands starting to use them if they had sampling synths.

Late to the reaction, (been a busy week), loved/love Duran Duran. Was fun being the only guy into them in 1984/85, while dozens of 8th/9th-grade girl classmates were into them as well. Okay, so trying not to retread observations and reactions listed below, ... "Nobody Does It Better" and "Live And Let Die" SHOULD have gone to number 1, but didn't and it's a testament to how good this song is,... that of the couple dozen James Bond movie theme songs, this was the one that topped the charts. Yes, 40 years of Duran Duran, where to go from here? Great suggestions by the commenters on here, eventually get around to "Is There Something I Should Know?" among the dozens of other unforgettable tracks.

So forgive me, but feel like your channel has found it’s secret sauce here, if you want. Obviously the hook is different eras between dad and son but if you’re not going to show videos, which is so much a part of the art of todays artists (BTS reactions specifically, which I like), then finding b-sides of really good bands can separate you. This being an example. Yes, it was a bond theme (not a great bond movie) but the mixing in this song is crazy. Keep doing that I think. Or change to videos for newer artists because that’s part of the art (who can imagine this is America without the video?). Anyways, love the diversity of your channel. Just a thought.
