I can tell that dad would be lots of fun at an 80s concert or nightclub...love how he really gets into the songs he loves :) My vote is for Electricity or Dreaming.

If we had ever had kids we would’ve have been the cool fun parents. Taking the kids to concerts, etc. ;( never had that joy. At 49. And hubby 53 we still love music so much. I sing. He plays guitar. Rock music for the most part. So fun.

OMD! This was one of the bands that defined the mid/late 80s. Thank you for your reaction!

This is one of my favorite songs ever... so beautiful! Another favorite "The Promise" by When in Rome, and "Forever Young" by Alphaville

Love OMD & this song is pure pop perfection! We did just film an Alphaville tune but it was “big in Japan” . 😬

They are the writters of 2 0f the most iconic "electronic-synthpop songs of the '80s dawn. The expiremental new wave-ish ELECTRICITY and the legendary smash ENOLA GAY.My fave though is the adventurous follow up single: The synth ballad SOUVENIR and the electro "motown-ish"/calypso flavoured lil gem LOCOMOTION.Also the (the kinda indifferent for some others) FOREVER LIVE AND DIE.I gave you thumbs up because dad really enjoyed and i enjoyed the cool way he enjoyed lol!Even though not my most fave one by them you made me get into it so i reconsidered for better.

omd are fine tunesmiths, even up to now they make very futuristic, high tech sounds combined with uplifting tunes to make songs.

Looking back it always amazed me how UK and US had this track only reaching the mid 20's and then for "If You Leave" it got to #4 in the US but only #48 in England. Glad you mentioned the three songs from '80/'81 although the one that came to mind from the earlier catalog was "Maid of Orleans" right after those. Yes, an experimental era for them, echos of Kraftwerk-like influences. Also of interest is how even as electronic peers, they were influential on Nick Rhodes, and Duran Duran.

How did England 🇬🇧 have so many amazing synth, new wave, new romantic artist all around the same time! It’s ridiculous the quality of music in the UK during the 80’s! Wow 😎😎

@@reactionextraction probably because in the tradition of everyone wanting to be the next Beatles, Stones, etc,... in their social structure if you wanted to make anything out of your life outside of the drudgery of manufacturing it was either football (soccer), or music, whether hard rock, prog rock, punk rock, or reaction to all those with synth, new wave, new romantic, and they were the British Baby Boom who had a stricter and tougher time of it than the Americans, (all while their empire was declining) so they had something to prove. -- And our generation were the beneficiaries of their artistic outlet and expression.
