Today we dive into Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet. "Wishing I Was Lucky" is the lead single from their debut studio album POPPED IN SOULED OUT released in September 1987. It was their first hit, peaking at No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart!

When I was a 12 year old boy in Germany, this was my favourite band after catching them on a TV show one time. Imported CDs and VHS tapes and everything. I now realize how corny they were compared to The Smiths and stuff, but I still have a place in my heart for them.

i enjoy hearing wet wet wet these days, decent pop music its a nostalgia trip, for a couple minutes im back in the 80s in the back of mum and dads car with my brothers on a day trip somewhere 😁 damn, im getting old, they look so young now i always thought marti pello and mel gibson were the same person when i was young for some reason lol

Don't you think they were quite "Nothern Soul" ? I mean, predominately pop/soft rock. But I always felt like they had that classy soul music vibe too. Early stuff was best, as they went on it got a bit too "were famous" kind of thing. Great reaction as always tho !

Oh I used to hate them then. And honestly, I still do. They tried to put on a trendy detached arty 80's attitude in their videos while being totally cheesy. It never worked for me. "Soulful vocals" , Smiling At The Camera, using State Of The Art production on GUITAR-BASS-DRUM-PIANO ditties ??? BEING CUTE ? NO ! Noooowah !!!
