In the mid 80's I read a George Lynch interview. He listed the music he was listening to. One line simply said "Thank God For King's X. I ran to the record store and bought the records they had recorded up to that time Out Of The Silent Planet & Gretchen Goes To Nebraska. Those records changed my life. Then I saw them live and was amazed that 3 guys could put out that much sound. The vocals really touched me.

I first saw Dug in the 80s with Morgan Cryer at my church when I was maybe 13. Didn't know who he was. This black bass player with tall spiked hair looked crazy different than everyone else, wearing all black, walkin around all tall and punk, talking to the audience. He definitely stood out! In 1991, I moved to Springfield, and a friend turned me on to King's X, and I loved them. It wasn't until years later when I read their bio, I realized Dug from King's X was that crazy looking bass player that toured with Morgan Cryer and played a concert at my church in St Augustine. It was also very likely that Ty and Jerry were on guitar and drums! No wonder Morgan Cryer's band sounded so good!

I had the chance to meet Jerry Gaskill at my brothers house in Cypress Tx. after a show that he booked for them. Jerry is a very humble man and an amazing drummer. I got to sit with him and talk for a while. He told me what it was like to be on the road in a rock and roll band. I told him how much there music influenced me when I was in high school. this was in an amazing experience for me and one that I will never forget. last I heard Jerry was not in good helth, Plz keep him in your prayers.

I watched them load their own gear out of that van one night in Dallas Texas. It was a Sunday night, not even sure if the first album was out yet.

That clip around the 3:50 mark is them as 'Sneak Preview' judging by the hairstyle. :) Incidentally the book on King's X by Greg Prato is a must for KX fans, if you don't have it already.

I feel him. Figuratively. I was in a tiny little band and we did a show somewhere in the south like Memphis or Op, Alabama. We had to pack up (that's spend 3 hours AFTER playing 5 hrs), drive STRAIGHT to the next gig (literally half way across the US), set up and play that night. Dues.

I have a Yamaha RGXTT and that's the only reason I know who he is. I was in a Japanese guitar shop and I wanted a Ibanez RG680. He had one, but being a language barrier he didn't understand that I wanted it saved. I came back the very next day, it was gone, and the RGXTT was in its place. I played it, and fell in love. It was meant to be, Mistress Catalina and I. Thanks #TyTabor

Im from Barcelona, Catalonia, Europe and I got almost all Kings X albums. I discover the band with a three cassete's offer including Gretchen goes to Nebraska in 2000 years. I love them. Theyre a great and particular musicians and never acted in Barcelona or Spain at all. Why? Maybe for the money or anything? There are some good festivals here. Come on and visit us! Hail to the Kings!

I totally agree with Ty;He enjoyed and performed music that was different(opposed) to each other.Too many artist's/musicians are One dimensional.I know, some things we can't change. But I'm happy to be multi dimentional musically, both listening to and playing.I consider King's X a Christian band.Which might be why they're not more popular.Their subject matter isn't dirty or violent, which also"hurts"them. But I say"Too bad"for those who EXPECT vulgarity from a rock band.

Did geddy lee ever grow a goatee? Rush is great, but jerry has a much better singing voice, even if only on backing vocals. Both bands are the rare 3 piece. I usually say there are no coincidences, but even if separated at birth, Lee does look slightly different from jerry. War - 3 man bands!

Those first 3 albums were straight, great, Christian rock. Anything after, I don't know as well. I listened to Dogman, & the lyrics were, just awful. Im coming back a bit now. Don't understand why the label that signed Metallica, Anthrax, which I like too. Would sign these guys. These guys are still more talented & fulfilling to my spirit
