Real happy for the CSM with codex writing the way it's going, but as the guy trying to make Anvil Siege Force work I can only wish it was as fortunate with the detachment rules writing. Tycho mentioning "...to go witg your defensive stacking is more defensive stacking" just adds to the irony (pun intended lol).

Renegade Raiders is everything I ever wanted for a Red Corsairs detachment. Finally have a use for all of the kitbashed bikers I made. Also, HURON LIVES (RIP Exalted Champion), and his rules mesh really well with the detachment. Am super excited to try it out.

The warp talons go up at the end of the fight phase, any fight phase. Which means they can rapid ingress, kill something, and go up again. Over, and over, and over again.

As an AdMech player I too will be feasting with the Soulforged Warpack, but I do enjoy my Skittles even if they’re underwhelming. We’ll see if any Custodes and AdMech changes surface in the next balance pass to bump us back up some.

This codex might be the best of 10th edition. Solid 8/8. Not a single bad detachment. Edit: When I said none of them were bad, I meant that none of them are unplayable. None of them are as bad or poorly planned as Explorator Maniple or Crusher Stampede.

@@PackmasterJack Ah, I can understand that. I personally feel like CSM in general is a bit more of an offensive army overall so the blow isn't too bad, but compared to other detachments it is certainly more defensive. Thank you for explaining, kind stranger!

I'm running (literally running) masses of Alpha Legion possessed. At first I was shocked they catch a nerf, though they dont need devestating in every combat and if they get cheaper because of it, I'd actually consider them more viable for being fast, tough and still potentially dangerous.

Strategem that turns normal vehicles into deamon vehicles in vashtorrs army is funny as hell. A land raider that is also a demaon engine, hell ya! Alpha legion can make a chaos lord just appear from thin air, sacrificing one chosen or legionaire model to reveal himself as a chaos lord is the funniest shit and can be a sneaky way to set up a detonator strategem by sneakily getting a character close to the vehicle, revealing themselves in reinforcement step then destroying it before the opponent can really do anything. And alongside the soul link ability you got some fun ideas going on. Heck, as unreliable as battle shock can be dread talons uses so many you almost can't expect atleast a couple going off per game. I also like their strategem that allows them to charge a falling back unit. I do not know if that strat has to be the unit they are retreating from or could be any heretic astartes in range(6 inches) but it basically means that most infantry cannot get away as long as you want to use a CP point cause most units can't move further than 6 unless they are a particularly fast unit. A great way to keep infantry in melee range to both disrupt the enemies plan, but to keep your infantry safe by being protected from fire for being in engagement range and keep the pressure on.

For the Siege Craft stratagem, do you use it before or after your opponent rolls their charge? If its after they declare the charge but before they roll it then its an great strat. But if its after they roll you use the strat that is so busted.

Pretty sure it says you use the stratagem at the start of the charge phase, which is a bit worse as the enemy can just charge something else but it’s still pretty powerful especially when used by a smart player

I’m really hoping the EC index will actually drop on codex release day. The preview says they can use all the detachments and units from the main codex but codex day is cutoff for “legal rules” for a big tournament I’m going to. And apparently since Noise Marines aren’t in the codex I can’t take them at all without the index rules.

1 thing I do is put a hell brute within 6 inches of my daemon engines so when they dark pact they get both effects if that's still the same with the daemon engine detachment that is insane

I feel ya, I woke up early(Cause I work nights and the time it opened up in my time zone was 1 pm. I literally refreshed the page at 1 pm immediatly went to the pre orders and it was already out for both battleforces. So I settled for normal codex, the patrol, dice and kinda bought a few things to make up for not being able to get the veterans box. I'll just proxy my Sm captain(Cause I started as Space marine) until the new scult chaos lord comes out. Still sucks hard. Basically sold out before the site even updated for me.

I'm sad to see Abaddon's warmaster abilities unchanged, as the good options (re-roll hits, 4++ saves) are basically blank if you take him with Terminators (the thematic choice). I really hoped the choices would change with the codex.
