This has been a very productive buzzer pattern for me and is well worth having a few in your fly box. It can be tied in sizes 10 to 14 depending on where you are fishing and what hatch you are matching.
The key points to consider when tying a buzzer pattern in my opinion are:
- get the fly proportions right
- keep the tying thread as flat as possible
- most of all, take your time. Don't rush.
Remember that a buzzer is meant to fished static, so a fish gets plenty of time to inspect your fly. You are not pulling it quickly like a wet fly. So the more precise you tie your buzzer the more likely it will be to fool a wary trout.
