These latex pupa/nymph patterns are productive flies. Can find no sheet latex so will try some balloons. The cake roll seems like a good technique for a consistent width of latex. Thank you for sharing with us Davie.

Great natural looking coloured pattern as ever Davie…but my wife is getting a bit worried about my Xmas and birthday present requests based on suggestions from ‘Mr McPhail’…I got the coffee grinder for Xmas and now I’m asking for a hair dryer and permanent marker pens for my birthday 😂

Hi Ken, I've tyed them on a size 20 on the same style of hook which is like a standard size 18/16 with the same latex and it does stretch right down to as fine as you can cut it..I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie

Hi @user-mr3gt1vr5m, Pantone, Staedtler and Sharpie markers are the ones I have used on these flies, the Pantone pens have a larger range of the natural colours...I'm glad you enjoy the videos.. All the very best Davie

Hi Robert, I bought it a few years ago when I worked in the Glasgow Angling Centre, it is sold by Veniards so any shop that stocks their materials should be able to help you...I have attached a link below to Veniards website showing the latex for you to see and search for..I've never tried the gloves though it would certainly be wort trying as I'm sure it would work... Very nice dish. You have taken a simple dish and elevated it to the fine dining level, Chef Davie. ;-) Seriously, I can’t imagine any freshwater fish that wouldn’t want to eat that fly. In the previous latex fly video, one viewer asked if there was a coating that could be used to reinforce the fly. Decades ago I made some replacement latex skirts for poppers which broke down & sort of melted in their plastic storage compartment. Thus, I’m also wondering if there is some protective coating that could be added to the latex or if there is a more durable substitute for latex. If not, then I’ll tie them as you showed & hope they will last - they just look too good to not tie them. Thank you.

Hi FlyTyer1948, I've coated some in the past with varnish and it seemed to work ok though latex is a funny material at times so I just leave it as it is and only tye a few of them when I want some in my box..The latex I used in the video I bought in 2006 and it's still fine though it is in a packet..
