Tying a "Lady Caroline" Spey Fly

Beautiful fly and one of my favourites, after tying my 1st one of these I fell in love with Spey flies. I like the effect of the roughed up floss 👍

Thank you!! really enjoy this pattern. The floss roughed up worked well for a substitute. I'm quite pleased with the result. I may tie it that way more often.

Thev very vfirst time i tied a Salmon Fly, was in a swap. We had to pick a wet fly, then turn it into a Spey Pattern. I always joined swaps that pushed me, so in a jumped! The wet pattern was a Mallard and Claret. My own pattern had no name . It took some doing and i had to buy a book about it, but i managed 12 decent flies!! I really enjoyed making them.

I do fish the speys for steelhead. The classics i have not fished yet but I intend to next season.

Where did you get the heron feather?

There is a seller on ebay that regularly has Heron for sale. Search under "Salmon Fly Tying" you should be able to find it pretty easily.
