I have to laugh because that size 14-hook looks huge compared to a size 14-hook in my vise. You make everything look so simple and no one explains how to tie flies better than you can. From that point things change, making a perfect looking fly is not something that comes naturally. It takes a will of stone and failures never seems to end as you expand to other patterns. However, watching you has improved my skills immensely. Thank you for all the things I have learned from watching you. Only a small group of people understands why someone could enjoy something so hard to do. May be, I should call it Dressing Hooks instead of Tying Flies.

I agree with Gizmo I wouldn’t attempt that with anything below size 12 your amazing Davie. Thanks for your videos they’re making me a better fly dresser, keep them coming.

Hi Davie, beautiful demonstration. Are you using Fallow or Red deer hair? Start of our season, so I am off for a weeks fishing the Tongariro River. Tight lines.

Hi Piere Vojzola, I used Roe Deer, the dark hair that runs along the ridge of it's back, I bought a tanned skin off ebay...I hope your fishing trip goes well and thank you for the kind words... All the very best Davie..

I did enjoy it, Davie... thank you. On some flies you've tied using knotted legs you have used legs from each side of the stem, but not on this fly. What do you see as the difference? Mike
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, You can get away with just using one side but if you want to get the legs to sit and look much better then taking legs from either side does help this. The ones I used were nice and fine as well and less likely to twist on you...I'm glad you enjoyed the video and if you give them a go let me know how you get on... All the very best Davie..

Hi Davie, would you be kind enough to suggest an alternative hook for the Aryshire red shrimp, only one place selling the Ken Sawada (Flytek) and they are not answering phones and their site isn't secure.
