Tying a Soft Hackle Yellow Sally Fishing Fly

The Yellow Sally hatch is both prolific and drawn out. Yet, we often overlook it because of the other excitement happening simultaneously….bugs like PMDs, Drakes, Golden Stones, and Caddis. If you’re fishing during these hatches without as much success as you’d expect, try a yellow sally. While you might be tempted to reach for a full-on dry version, try trailing a fly like this behind a big, bushy Drake pattern.
