Hook - Hanak H 130 BL #12
Thread - Fish On UTS Olive
Body - Troutstalkers (Natural Boosted)
Wing 1 - Coastal Deer Hair
Wing 2 - Grey Aero Wing
Sighter - Troutline Mad Rabbit Plus (Black Pepper)
I already have a tutorial for this pattern on my channel and this is the way I have tied the fly for years. A recent video from Howard Croston a good friend of Davie Parker showing the correct dressing and the story behind the fly prompted me to have this re-show.
It is not exactly the same as Howard's version but as near as damn it! Please check out the version I tied a while back as it has taken plenty of fish for me over the years there will be a link to it in the video. I will also add a link to Howards video as he gives a great explanation on how the fly came about.
As always please let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Neat flies catch anglers. A dressing with let’s say some character that is the fly that the trout takes. The retirer is a great example. Especially when viewed from underneath as per a trout’s eye view. With the double bonus of the buoyancy of the deer hair and the airo wing slighter post for the anglers benefit. For the dog days when the fish needed that subtle difference. Your version 1 could just be the dark horse required. One personal touch I humbly suggest is the slighting post in different light/water conditions. Fluorescent Yellow Orange or Green or even a combination of two of them. Bright sun, shadowed under trees or in a ripple. The differences can be amazing. Especially for us non teenagers

You are right about the colours light conditions do dictate what shows up best.

Hi Steve, always happy to hold my hands up when I get it wrong. That said the way I tied it previous has been a great fly for me over some years. I took this version out on the river last week and it worked really well. Thanks for watching pal.

That is a great looking bug. As far as hair stackers go I use them and sometimes I don't, Gary LaFontaine never used a hair stackers, he always said Nature did not always present a neat wing or tail. His success speaks for itself.
