Ah, tying jigs. One of the stages that can lead the fishing addict to fly fishing & tying. My salty home waters were in the Cape Cod Canal where I gradually changed from bait to plug & jig fishing & to fly fishing. For plug fishers, the local Canal jigs ( called, “barracudas,” for some reason) were 2oz. to 6 oz. depending on tide & current stage & location.

On a different note I've started tying marabou and some flash for the trailing treble on some of my crank baits.

Yup, we can do that with many lures, spoons and spinners - works great. I surprised that more people don't do this. It takes very little in the way of fly tying gear to accomplish.

@@robertfrancisco1193 Usually white, olive or black do the job well, along with some flash. A touch of red near the head of a white jig adds a little attraction as well. Mostly white and flash with some olive on top, produces a minnow-like jig, especially if the jig head has painted eyes. I'll be producing a minnow jig video over the next few days, for release mid July. You might want to check that one out.

How long bucktail jigs last you pretty much for ever until you lose them?
@hooked4lifeca8 ай бұрын
Bucktail jigs are quite durable assuming that they are tied well.
