Tying the Bear Bones (a bear hair streamer)

I came up with this pattern after needing a sleek but heavy streamer to fish some moderately fast but deep water. I guess we'll see how it performs.
Hook: #6 3x long streamer
Thread: Black
Tail: Bear fur, cinnamon
Body: Medium wire, red and silver
Wing: Bear fur, cinnamon

Great looking fly. I’d go with calling it “The Bear Necessity”. Thanks for sharing. Hope we get to see you fishing it. Nice fish you had on. He was definitely a jumper. You hate having one get off. But in that situation glad you didn’t go for a dip while being stuck. Or worse and having an ankle injury. Love the clips.

Nice fly Matt with lots of possibilities. As you mentioned it could be tied with other hair and wire color combos. I recommend Banded Hair Sinker (BHS) This one would be a Cinnamon Bear BHS. Other combo names, Black Skunk BHS. White Bucktail BHS, Red Squirrel BHS. You get the idea. Cheers

That's a good take on it! Lots of names have "bear" in it, but those names wouldn't apply if you tied it with another hair. And the banded part is key. But then again, there are some cool names with bear in them. :-)
