The first fly looked a bit like a dogs dinner and I would fish it with great confidence as rough flies always catch the most fish. Thanks as always. Cheers.

Hi Lindsay! Nice fly! Do you ever tie this fly on a larger hook for larger fish? You might remember me. I'm a 61 year old dude from California USA. I've had two carple tunnel surgeries on each hand and due to some nerve damage my hand dexterity is not the best so large flies are easier for me. Thank you sir! It's always a pleasure to learn from you!

Not far from the distillery, has a decent tour and of course sample. Curious if you have been on the Spey with a fly. Water level has been iffy the past few years at Aviemore. We had floods round in the campsite last year but very low levels the year before. Been a hit and miss with the fishing. On tying what range of threads are best using. Seen some thicker used for first application. Seems I'm always overdoing the threads

I fished it further up at KIllermony not far from the Aberlour distillery. For ordinary threads a 6/0 serves most purposes if you are using Nano silks then 50d.

Appreciated, not many if any Ive found explain the threads and other thread styles in a wee bit more detail. Have seen a few that show what's being used. Obviously yourself and Davie

It's clear you prefer to use the Hanak hooks above any others.I have used them but now find they a few becoming harder to source. Perhaps you could offer other makes as an alternative.
@lindsayiflyfish7 ай бұрын
I use them because IMHO they are the best barbless hooks you can get. I am sure there are alternatives out there I just don’t use them.

The odd dram is a great way of preparing for some serious fishing. A few years ago I really put some serious preparations aka Glenmorangie before a day on the Helmsdale near Thurso. You learn by your mistakes,or not😉

It’s a mistake you don’t make more than once or twice 😉

Lindsay lovely fly, why 3 different materials in the wing?
@lindsayiflyfish7 ай бұрын
I think it just adds to the substance to the fly.
