Good Morning Mr McPhail...I think by this time I've gone thru your videos quite a number of times.The way you tie is so smooth,the fly just flows together.I've copied many of your patterns and have had very good luck.I think a lot of guys here in Newfoundland have used your videos as a source,a learning tool so to speak.Your name has been mentioned many a times on our local fly tying network.I love your videos....off to my next fly,need to tidy up my General Practitioner.....Take Care

Well done on such a great website. I'm an old timer to fly tying but I always enjoy getting a refresher from you on certain flies and instruction on new ones that I haven't tried. Keep it up. Best, Hil Hawken, San Anselmo, California

Thank you for another wonderful lesson. I am just learning how to tie and find your videos easy to follow. You are truly an artist, I especially enjoyed your classic salmon flies. Could you do some more videos on classic salmon flies, maybe a Black Dog? Keep the videos coming!

I might be wrong here. I woke up WAY too early, and I think some new flies is like a game of chess to me. Many steps to see through to get the whole picture and do things effective. When watching flytying sometimes, I think people tie in material "backwards", but it comes out perfectly right at the end :) Thats fasinating. Now...Havent tried it yet, but isnt it possible to use the tinsel like you used it in the first two steps throughout the whole fly? Just leave it and continue without cutting it after every step? Like I said. Ive hardly got no sleep tonight and my brain might be clouded :) Thanks again for showing a very nice fly.

Hi Xittin Anas, I used to do this with a few of my Irish Shrimp Flies but I didn't like to do it with the G.P as the middle wing can be caught with the rib and make the fly look untidy....I'm sorry you are not getting a good nights sleep but your brain's not cloudy as I've been there many times myself thinking about ways to tye certain flies in a different way hoping it's better...I'm glad you enjoyed the video... All the very best Davie

Did you say pigs hair for the tail? What substitutes do you recommend?
@DavieMcPhail11 жыл бұрын
Hi pdxtroutbum, Here is a link to some pig bristle I like to use, to be honest most that tye GPs just use dyed orange bucktail which catches just as well. www.foxy-tails.co.uk/category-4.html
