I think I have watched all your videos multiple times.. This is the best fly tying instructor around. Your flies work all the way over here in Brittish Columbia Canada. Thank you for your patterns, but more importantly, your ability to teach so precisely and effortlessly

Great easy fly to tie. Of course you always make it look easier than it actually is for us mortals :) Thanks for sharing. I knew at the beginning when I saw the UTC thread there had to be a split thread dubbing loop involved. All the best to you, Sean

Thanks for the reply Davie I have just watched your latex caddis again and going to have another crack at this as the first time it didnt turn out too good .I do not have any latex skin so I used a pair of latex gloves purchased from a local store and i cut the fingers into slim strips that worked ok but I tried bleaching goose feathers but it didnt turn out too good

Hey Davie. As always , beautifully tied , innovative, yet traditional. I have a question. What exactly does the bubble do/ represent? Underwing? Egg sack? Kind regards from Lappland. Colbee B
@DavieMcPhail8 жыл бұрын
Hi Colbee B, What the CDC will do is to trap a bubble of air within the wing and help keep it well on top of the surface of the water and it also gives a good impression of a caddis wing..It's a great pattern and certainly worth having in your box... All the very best Davie

Hi Davie. You mentioned you always use floatant on CDC flies. What is your preferred brand of floatant and is it a liquid or a powdered type ? Cheers
@DavieMcPhail9 жыл бұрын
HiDaz Han, I've always used Mucilin for my dries even CDC flies. What you have to do is allow the small velvet patch to soak up the cream with a bit of heat from a hairdryer, then all you have to do is rub you finger or thumb on the velvet patch lightly coating it so that you can apply the mucilin to your fly...The other floatant is one that you may like to use on CDC flies but I haven't really used it very much myself.. do you suggest treating this fly if fishing broken water?
@DavieMcPhail10 жыл бұрын
Hi amy johnson, I alway use a floatant on CDC flies but make sure that you don't over do it as I lightly apply it so that the fibres don't get clogged up which will flatten the fibres and the fly will not sit right on the water... All the very best Davie
