I loved this interview and I must apologize for some of the things I've said about Tyler Perry. I was one of those who criticized him for Madea and those plays. I have to acknowledge that there is a culture of hating within our community. I fell in line with that negativity. Tyler Perry is an out standing individual and we can critique our art without being negative. More power to him and I wish him more success.

half urban half suburban i don’t agree... it does matter because its a reflection how the community perceives its men... the black community uplifts the mothers but show disdain for fathers when both are important to a child’s growth into adulthood. Less profitable movies mean they will make less movies with positive male characters.

Sadly I use to trash this brilliant brother Tyler Perry. I would talk down about him and his movies to my mother and fathers and my family whenever they would come to visit us and bring them. Turns out I was only clowning myself in their eyes. I had developed self hatred from growing up in all white neighborhoods/private schools. As an adult I feel so ashamed a how I behaved. I have to also mention I love how Tyler Perry took the high road, despite Master P's shady delivery of trashing Tyler's name for promotion of that bull crap " I got the hook up 2", while Tyler still kept it on his grown man shit, and maintained his dignity, instead of feeding into the BS

I have so much more respect for TI after listening to this interview than I did when I started. Truth be told, I'm blown away! I mean, I've always known TI to be a really good actor but, goodness gracious, I had no idea he could conduct an interview with such grace and tact. His IQ is off the chart and I just wanna say kudos! I also appreciate - personally - Tyler Perry's candor throughout the interview. It takes an unselfish man who's realized that there's enough ______ (fill in the blank) to go around to open up like he did. Y'all keep on keepin' it real! Much love.

I adore Tyler Perry's work and admire him so much. His business success and personal growth is one of the best American stories I have ever witnessed. He is one my heroes and what an inspiration to me! He gets hit with a lot of criticism, much of which I don't understand why that happens, but he just gets up every day and does what is in his heart.

Tyler Perry is a marketing genius with a bravery many people don't possess, with his characters especially a female in a dress he still has done more for many people of color than his critics.... Bullshit!!!! You never lived through it so you romanticize segregation like a white racist land owner. Very few blacks prospered during that time. We far outweigh then in ownership. The buisnesses we did have could be taken from us whenever they felt like. We were indentured serverants. Options is freedom. Running from the community is the problem not segregation which truly still doesn't exist.
