That's the problem in all this. Tyler Perry brags about not NEEDING a writing staff because he's ABLE to do it all HIMSELF! And very well thank you. There's even a video about it. TP was called on the carpet about not keeping a writing staff yet had all these tv projects on air. So he talked about how he wrote all of the episodes for "House of Payne" alone but someone spoke up and said it didn't start out that way. In the begining he did have a staff of writers on the show. That must have been when it was a good show. At some point he dropped them. I stop watching it when it became nothing more than another Tyler Perry "over-the=top-drama-that-no-one-would-put-up-with" grab bag of stuff from my plays/movies. Hell yes he needs to spend some of his billion on writers. Sadly, long as the Black community keeps supporting his crap he'll keeping putting it out there. I stopped after he started blending the plays/movies over & over ad nauseum.

@@2004mojoHe fired his writers because they were in the union and he didn't want to pay them. I don't know why people think he pays his actors well because he doesn't. A lot of them work for him because it's all they can get. I don't think he likes black people and the only reason he's a billionaire is because he makes trash movies shaming his own people.

He still operates as an independent production company so he avoids paying SAG residuals to the actors. Whatever he pays upfront..that’s it. The actors that did those Sharknado films did them because the productions were SAG. It got them the hours they needed to maintain their health insurance and a 12% contribution to their pensions.

Y'all are the first review/critiques I heard that made a point to acknowledge that Corey's character is mentally unwell. This is not an excuse for his behavior, but it's very important to address. Hell my daughter's father's family are complete backwater NINJAS!! Drunk, yelling, ghetto, etc... and Tyler doesn't even need a script for them, just film them. Like in the end of this video with amazing hilarity Joseph asks Nick: "Do you think this is TP's worst film?" And Nick says "no, actually!" and proceeds to explain. It was so funny I'm still laughing. I could watch you guy do 2 hours of comedy on all his garbage films. I promise I'll let the ads play. Your audience asked to review this so that you could put laughter into the world after TP put another one of his atrocities into the world. One amazing right does make up for a wrong.

This review was sooooo good, thank you 🤣🤣 You both nailed something other reviewers didnt touch on - the warped concepts of time & distance in the film.

I hated the Benji character. He didnt seem like such a nice guy to me cuz he was pushing up on her so soon and too much. Like u guys said, she wasnt even divorced yet lol

I watched this very reluctantly 😅 Afte hearing the reviews and spoilers. And Megan cried and Corey was angry the entire movie. No backstory or redeeming quality. No real reason for the animosity.

Thanks for reviewing. I was so bothered by how quickly characters were getting from ATL to the country, when they said it takes and 1 hr and 30 minutes. So Bothered!!!!

That church scene in the beginning was cray-zay! I was really hoping that level of antics would keep up. But alas the movie turns into a snoozefest!

The scene where the father was shot and beaten and left on the ground was crazy. Then the next scene shows him sitting in his truck when Ava and Benji arrive. Showing him still laying on the ground would've made more sense. ALSO, we should've gotten the backstory of when Dallas admitted to killing his own father.

This sounds like a really honest and fair review! I think I came to terms with the fact very long ago that TP movies just do not appeal to me anymore and I’m not the target audience. I think people forget that two things can be true at once: we can definitely applaud Perry for what he’s doing for representation and the fact that he pays Black actors very well. But at the same time, we can still acknowledge that he has a way of insulting his audience’s intelligence. Like the characters in his movies tend to be cartoonishly evil or cartoonishly good, and the stories tend to have crazy potholes, and we get the same plots over and over. But his fans seem to always love his stuff so if the machine isn’t broken, I guess he just figures he doesn’t need to fix it 🤷🏾‍♀️ And I’m sure he’s able to pay the actors so much from the money he saves not hiring writers or people to consult about some of the details in the movies

Firstly, thank you for reviewing this! It's so much wrong. From the first minute! Perry really doesn't like black women, and he HAS to hire writers. Atp, I don't think he cares. Corey's little sideburns fro and gold toofus irked my spirit as well.

Thank you, so much for saying Lawson's character was wrong for the eulogy he gave at the funeral. A lot of other reviewers were saying he was just speaking the truth. Don't give a eulogy for a person you hate. Then he gives his daughter bad advice. Giving her all kinds of weapons. Saying put them in each room. So, if someone broke in and while going through the house found one, they would not hesitate to use one on her and possibly steal the rest if they found them. Where did Morgan's character go wrong? Not getting her a damn divorce lawyer. Or paying attention to what's happening to her only child. At the wedding, the mother-in-law slapped the wedding bouquet out of her hands. That was a sign of abuse right there. No one stepped in for this lady even the father who told her he showed her how to be treated. If he resided over the funeral, he probably did the wedding as well. They had to know about the abuse.
