@MrShaiya96 right? I never liked the angry little man who needs to lash out. Spike has made some muddled shitty films but has been a millionaire since 25 Tyler makes warm films which appeal to family and kinship. No reason for Lee to attack the man who portrays the black family in a real and affectionate way Screw spike lee

Tyler was in his feelings when asked about Spike. Spike gave his opinion saying that he thinks Tyler’s movies are having a negative impact on American culture. All Tyler had to say was I’m not worried about him. He just sounded like a hater in the interview. Spike remained positive.

There is room for both representations. Sometimes people just want levity and to laugh at themselves and each other. Other times people desire introspection and gravity. There’s a time for everything. The debate was, is, and always will be welcome. The best truce between these two will be for the (now) billionaire Tyler Perry to fund Spike Lee’s films.

Not if he has any sense.he'd do better with Ryan coogler or Antoine fuqua or create his own new "it" person.or just invest in a motley Crue.thats what the others do.its never one person sometimes it's three or more directors.

Spike was right about black images on film and how they have been used to harm black people ie "Birth of a nation" 1915. it is very important maybe most important to be careful about the images we allow to represent us. Like it or not Tyler Perry's images has harmed us and disgraced us. His negative images are having a more lasting impact than all the positive images going back to Paul Robeson to Lena Horn up to Denzel and Spike.

Numerous times throughout my adult life, I've heard white & non-black people tell me "I just love those Tyler Perry movies" as a means to "connect" with me. Apart from being enraged about this, I realized how DAMAGING Tyler Perry is to the African-American community. Tyler Perry is NOT making stuff for the Black Community. He is making fodder and stereotypes for the world to make fun of. Every Spike Lee film I have watched was a masterpiece and made me think on a deeper level. Think about it like this: How many Black Celebrities have kept their dignity are successful?

Tyler Perry is complexly wrong about Italians and Jews not being critical of work about them. I have many Italian friends who hate what the Godfather represented. As a Jew, Seinfeld has Jewish culture in it, but did not have Jews all looking like rabbi's eating corn beef. How a black person feels about it is subjective. Jews and Italians also have many similarities.

Plus I’m sorry but making bread off of exploiting doesn’t make u a genius. To me spike lee journey was more important to our culture, but that doesn’t make Tyler perry less important. Spike Lee wins hands down. Better writing. Better acting. Better scores. Better cinematography. Spike Lee is a bonafide auteur. I’m honestly unsure if Perry’s dramas are intended to be satire. The over the top dialogue and acting make me wonder if it’s intentionally bad.

Also... as a complete outsider who has had a similar experience. .. this kind of reminds me of the infighting in feminism between very hardcore feminists and women who embrace motherhood and stereotypically "feminine" roles (I am one). I caught a lot of flack for "embracing the oppression"... but I actually ENJOY being a wife and a mother, and while I fully support women being able to choose their path in life, I actually WANT this. I kinda see Tyler's struggle with Spike like that. Spike is going "You're representing all Black people poorly" and Tyler's going "Dude, can't I just represent MYSELF?" Tyler's not saying "this is EVERY black experience" he's saying "this is A black experience".... although when he points out that white cultures don't police ourselves the way black people do when it comes to representation in the media.... he's kind of glossing over the fact that black people have only gotten control over how they are represented within the past 50 years,so of course a there's going to be a certain expectation of responsibility some people are going to weigh on those who have that platform.

I think that Spike does not articulate himself well because he comments with emotion. This subject is serious & personal to him. I think that "in a nutshell ", what he is trying to say that any comedian or comedic actor could have made or come close to making the money Tyler Perry has off of the Madea character & franchise. Any African American would have no problem getting all of those type projects "greenlit". Whether it was Nutty Proffesor, Big Mamma's house or any other role with a man dressed as a woman, the creator's of the aforementioned could continue to make content under those franchises but made a conscious decision to stop. That is the difference.

I like the "Air Jordan 4" sneaker/kick enthusiast, Mars Blackmon (aka NY-bred legendary filmmaker, Spike Lee). It's the Shoes ! Tyler Perry, like Oprah (Winfrey), has created an ATL media (tv show/film) studio empire. Different Strokes (with characters like a "Madea") for Different Folks: it is like a Menu at a Restaurant. 31 Flavors (of Ice Cream) for everybody; it depends on what you like (preferences). To each his/her own. There is room on the dinner table for both of these cats. Spike Lee's "Bamboozled" (2000) and/or Robert Townsend's "Hollywood Shuffle (1987)" both comes to my mind; on the latter, I was thinking about the realistic "Black Acting School" skit.

But yr culture must b the definite underlining defining characteristic of yr art works. 4 yr past, present & future will manifest of it. stand strong. stand obedient. stay tuned. love. learn. evolve. peace&goodwill. This is silly! Society always pits blacks against each other. As if we can only have one "hot" black at a time. When is the last time they pitted two white men against each other? Johnny Depp beefing with Matt Damon? Never, because Hollywood can have 83 hot white actors. That's fine.

At least Spike Lee didn't have to put a dress and make up on to become famous.

Why is this surprising? Seems like a Kendrick Drake beef. (In craft only. I think Tyler Perry is much a better person than Aubrey.)

Spike made Malcom X Tyler made Madea goes to jail I'm born and raised in Brooklyn and l idolize Spike l currently live in South Carolina where my wife was born and raised she perfers Tyler Perry what she finds funny about his movies doesn't really appeal to me but we both understand the importance of them both l dont particularly like the way Tyler films where preferred in Hollywood because the stories are less complex and characters are cartoonish but it got Tyler to a place where he can write his own ticket and put people of color in a position of power in Hollywood that can use his studio and his power to get things done

I've said it before. Spike is all about Blackness. His artistic abilities are hindered by that. Don't get me wrong, he has done fantastic works. But, as a director, his concentrating ingredient is black. The art is the challenge and the beauty. Perry? Outside of the Madea, he has hurt black america. Madea was just stupid fun with an honest message. "Why did I get married," says it all, and did so much bad. It confused the already confused...which is us. Spike never confused us.

Now get this. Tyler Perry has made because he degrades his people. As long as he degrade his people with all the drag dressing and homosexuality of our men, and the clowning of black Wombmen he will always be on top. Hollyweird will make sure Perry will be on top. This is what so many don’t see. Hollyweird doesn’t want the positivity of my people aka black people. That’s will my people. As long as my people degrade each other in film and music, the matrix industry will make sure their successful and what’s working. Tyler tells spike he can go to hell🔥☄️ well I’d like to to ask him Does he think our Divine Almighty MostHigh Yah is pleased with his work and pleased with what he does when the cameras 🎥 and mics🎤 aren’t on him? Spike isn’t no perfect individual however, he is about the truth of our people and his doesn’t put out garbage 🗑

Spike puts out nothing but garbage and his movies promotes Hellenistic/African matriarchy concepts and has vast gay undertones.also he always has the black man in America holding hands and joining forces with heathens and down on their luck slave traders.please stop it.

I never thought Tyler Perry stuff was funny or lessons within it. It's stereotypical. Spikes stuff is like The Cosby's , Different World, classy and hits upon real issues... only Spike needs to be mad at black folks, not Tyler. This is America, it's about the mighty $.I could never finish watching a Tyler Perry movie... it's obnoxious! Go figure!

Typical BS. Shouldn't be a feud, they both legends, & both necessary. Spike was a part of the blueprint, owning his own production company, perry is the next faze, owning his own production company, production studio & working on a channel. True 💯 percent control of his content, & don't need a white man budget or what a white man to green light his movie. It's no need to put them against each other. I don't hear white folks making a beef out of Stephen King & speilburg. It's nothing wrong with having different content, nobody is in the same mood all day. It's a time to laugh & a time to be serious
