Ive been gladiator on wow from end of wotlk all cata/pandaria and off and on through out the next few expansions. Im d1 jungle on league since 2016. The reason league is harder is because the map is so big and fog of war. Wow doesn't have crazy macro just all micro outside of line of sight. So league macro is insanely hard to be at the right place at the right times especially give fog and trinkets.

I have several Challenger/Master rated friends and they have never gotten Gladiator in WoW despite playing it longer than League. They also have far less WoW achievements like only clearing mythic raid one time. Retail WoW is the harder game for sure. It's honestly too fucking hard and thats why its been dying for years.

I started League years ago and it took me 2.5 seasons to get Plat. Ive been playing WoW ever since 2007 and I've only sniffed 2200 once. And it only got progressively harder as the game got closer to current. Tyler might make it far but the top half the bracket is dominated by career pvpers. Tyler would be spending NO time with his daughter.

if it gives any precursor at all i played LoL since preseason 1, every year i settle around high diamond masters. started playing retail in shadowlands for pvp, got 1800ish in shadowlands half way through and then picked up league again so i dropped it (on dh) then i went to dragon flight when it came out and got 2400 in soloshuffle as enchance shaman in the first half again and then started league again. my conclusion is wow is muchhhh harder to start pvp you gotta learn everything including addons and what you are looking at. but after the huge first hurdle it starts getting significantly easier. for league i think its more consistantly challenging throughout the climb. both are hard in different ways imo

A pianist has to play fast but in time, and if there is a millisecond rest pause in the piece the pianist has to adhere to it. Timing and context is what makes the button presses skilled

dude i didnt play wow for a very long time, got back into it when classic cata came out, tryd some 2v2 with random pug guys .. literally EVERYONE has like rang1 glad exp.. noone wants to play with you if u dont have r1 exp.. the only ppl you can que with are dog at the game or have zero gear .. or both .. and IF by some miracle u get a decent player for once he will just leave you on the first lose .. its so freaking hard to get into it nowadays.. also your constantly facing glads/r1 glads that boots some noobs for gold. even on low rating, its crazy just reaching 1800 felt like 2200 back in the days

The issue with T1 trying to get high rated in arena is players like me who barely play constantly switching around alts and messing around with my friends are 1600-1800 cr. As a 2400 xp player. And there are TONS of us like this. The gap between 1600-1800 is huge. 1800-2000 is massive. 2000-2200 is even bigger and 2400 after that is another huge gap. I recall when I was multiple class 2100 cr and 2200 xp and I got put into a game with a 2500 team and all 3 of us didn’t get to play the game at all. The gap is way too big. I do think he could get 2k and could get carried higher but with no carry 2k is the limit.

as a noob i solo que'd duos in wow shadowlands and got to 2.3k rating in the span of like 6-10 months, more than that is super hard. In League peaked dia 4 in season 8 (started playing season 2,- when i was 14 years old). I think Tyla can get to glad with help within half a year for sure - without help more than than 6 months.

In all seriousness though its obviously hard to compare WoW pvp to league in terms of "which is harder" the best way I can explain WoW arena to people who don't know is that its basically a League or Dota teamfight thats just happening 24/7 Until the match ends, and how perfectly you can play that teamfight from start to finish. The first time I pushed Gladiator as a warrior during Season 3 of BFA (fuck corruptions btw) Was during covid when i had infinite time to grind the game to get good. Before then I played pvp at a slightly casual player getting 2k basically every season (probably equivalent to high gold/platinum in league). The only reason I got Gladiator at that time was because I had the time to grind it out. But the games themselves aren't the hardest part of WoW pvp its the LFG system. Trying to look for partners would LITERALLY take me 12 hours at some point in a day for you to play 2 games, 1 win lose 1 and then one teammate ragequitting and starting all over. THATS what makes WoW pvp in my opinion much harder to grind then league. League u can actually play the fucking game at any time of day and get a ranked match in seconds so u can actually grind it out and learn, if u don't already have connections before hand in WoW, ur stuck from the bottom of the barrel like Xaryu said just fighting all the people who have been playing the game for decades and just getting shit on until u eventually learn but by then u will just most likely quit.

Playing WoW retail PVP is like playing only Yassuo or Yone in league. You HAVE to be mechanically good to even be eligible to win any games. League you can win by playing amumu jungle and climb pressing literally 3 buttons (look at ludwig)

Havent play LoL in a minute but I was d2 back in s6 as a mid/top main during the brutal tank meta and imo wow is just a harder game. The amount of bullshit you would need to learn to even be able to compete with the sweats that play this game for the past 22 years(arena lifespans) is a nightmare and it doesnt get better because the playerbase is only shrinking and the road to r1 only gets harder.

Something WoW players aren't considering is that League of Legends allows for far more in game adjustment. There is far more game knowledge needed for League. Far more positioning and reaction time in WoW. Solo queue League would take longer to those high ranks because you are relying on 4 other people to do their job. WoW takes less time because you only need to rely on two people.

My youngest brother has played wow and LOL at high levels, in tbc he played a hunter clicking by the way in arena and achieved I’m pretty sure 2200, moved to league and achieved challenger in OCE, became a pro in OCE in around 2013, played in WCG, also worlds, did a training camp in Korea and achieved challenger in Korea, now is a coach for a NA team. Not even with a high level healer. Could get decently high rated with a healer, but to get Rank 1 he would need to be Rank 1 caliber as well. Low level arena is already far harder than League or Classic

I personally played wow PvP and LoL equally. I got to 2500 rated in arenas as a healer from cata to WOD. I couldn’t for the life of me break Gold 1 into plat in solo queue league and if I were to guess, have queued at least over 2,000 league ranked games. I personally think league is exceptionally harder but to this day love wow way more and still play wow.

I believe what makes League harder is having so many teammate. if you're team is bad its effectively 4vs5. what makes wow easier is that you can pick your teammates.

@ yeah idk I’ve been thinking about it. I think the only argument wow has is keybinds. Yeah you have anywhere between 30-50 keybinds but for the most part you run the same 2 comps all season, and you run into the same 6-8 comps all season whereas league of legends you have a billion different comps you can play with and run into. Also 200 league champions x 6 abilities = 1,200 abilities in the game you have to be weary of, not taking in account items and different builds. I really want to say wow is harder but I can’t honestly say that.

Unless he gets coached or carried its gonna take a lot of time to hit rank 1 in wow retail, and remember the stream snipers who lived and breath wow retail will be on his que as well given most of them are trash but there are some blood and sweat mf out there that will hunt him during his climb

Glad is comparable to Diamond, pretty simply put, top 5ish % I got Glad my 2nd season on retail but I had a background in TBC arena. Glad after BFA has been very easy in comparison, the difference between 5ish% and 0.5% is pretty significant. I think T1 is very capable of getting Glad within a year without getting carried. I wouldn't even mind him getting coached through it or carried a bit and then starting fresh at the end of the year and pushing it solo. The thing with arena is the matchmaking, especially in soloshuffle, is absolutely scuffed. So once ur mmr tanks, u'd rather bench that char for the season than actually pull it out of hell. T1 the kinda dude that'll bruteforce 5,000 games in a season, I'm fairly sure he'll get good enough, roll a new toon and push glad with fresh mmr. That being said, WoW is infinitely harder than LoL to both get into and peak on. But u know, SC2 craps on both so its a trivial argument
