As a non-WoW player, watching T1 be in the same spot (34:45), waiting for the same creature to spawn, killing the same creature, how is that fun? Genuinely asking. Is it the grind part that's fun for WoW players? Is it looking at the progress bar getting satisfaction every level up? I'm curious because I kinda want to try it and play, but the game hasn't connected to me yet.

There is some small amount of satisfaction to levelling and getting new stuff, but the main point of any MMO is playing with other people. For WoW that mostly means doing dungeons and eventually raids with your guild. The grind is just what you have to do to get to the fun part. Doing it in hardcore is the only reason it isn't completely mind numbing for the people who have done the exact same grind 50 times already. There is a reason that every MMO around lets you pay to boost your characters to max level instantly, so you can go straight to the fun parts instead of suffering through the grind again.
