My father recently took his own life after losing a battle with a sudden mental illness. This only happened a month and a half ago. He was my best friend and we were extremely close. In the garage listening to music, as he did often with the crazy amount of audio equipment he had, he would listen to this song and say, "I love this song so much, it feels like it was made just for me". We played this at his funeral. I have only just turned 21 and my younger brother being 19, and we have listened to this song an infinite amount of times since his passing. Thank you Tyler for the memories and emotional connection with your music. This song was something very special to him.

This song reinforces my belief that "God" is music. Everything around you is held together by deep tones and sounds we can't hear. Sound is th only thing you can feel to your core and nobody has ever said they hate music. Music is used at the highest level of warship in all religions. I will die one day and my energy will ride the sound waves of the universe till I make it to that big concert at the center.

I agree with you but somewhere along the way we lost Logos. This new age zen definition of God has made society deteriorate. Boys are commonly growing up to be women. Women are no longer Motherly. And family values no longer sacred. The ancients gave us deity for a reason.

In my experience, God is in everything, and everything in him. Maybe even exists through everything. Music is (when properly done) a gathering of harmonized vibrations that can induce emotional and transcendent experiences, so I think you're right in a way. Maybe its the ultimate manifestation of perfect harmony. Religions have always tried to personify and reduce everything higher that us into pieces we can understand, and much of it is true, if vastly different perspectives of the same concepts. I think a lot of people miss truth while picking apart allegories in search of facts or clinging to dogma, but music is a sure way to experience "God," just like love, nature, meditation, psychedelics, etc. Tyler really got it right with this one.

Up in Pocahontas, near the Cranberry Glades Ain't got bars, nor the charge to call her anyways My mind's a mile a minute and my thoughts they bark like hounds I'm focused on my breathing in the universal sound I think about my darling girl, sleeping all alone I pray the stars will shoot her all the wishes she can hold On the day that I return, I aim to lay her down But right now, I am focused on the universal sound I think about tobacco juice and Masonjars of shine I think about the vices I've let take me over time I recall when I was a baby, I didn't need nothing around But a little bitty rattler and the universal sound I close my eyes It was all so clear It was all right then It was all right here I'm focused on my breathing in the universal sound I let it take me over from the toenails to the crown of the body that I’m in well they put me in the ground Then I return to the chorus of the universal sound I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace I've sat there on a bar stool, and I've looked him in the face He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down He was humming to the neon of the universal sound I focus on my breathin' in the universal sound
