This is one of the best pop songs ever by any artist, a MASTER CLASS, the writing, the lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentation, the layers, the hooks, and the harmonies. It would not take much updating for another artist to make this a hit today,

This is my favourite ABBA song. It has everything - harmonies by the whole group, the third voice by the two ladies, solos by each lady, an a capella sequence and superb layered back-up vocals, in a song with diverse sections that fit seamlessly, and great instrumentation. Love love love!!!♥️♥️♥️

This is one of my favorite ABBA songs, maybe in my top 3 honestly. If anyone ever says that ABBA is just simple pop music then show them this song! It's definitely their most complex song. It has so many different sections, I counted it to at least like 5 or 6 and they all sound so different but it still works, and the layers of vocals and the harmonies wow they're incredible. This is from ABBA: The Album and it's my favorite album because it's so unique. I love your reactions, you're so wholesome.

One of their greatest hits in the UK ( 4 weeks at no.1 in 1977). In 1996 Björn & Benny gave their permission (for the very first time) to the Fugees to sample it in the song "Rumble in the jungle". Always enjoying your ABBA reactions !

ABBA is always different,but at the same time,you can always also hear the strong ABBA sound in it. Thats one reason that makes them so unique,one of many reasons. They always bring up new melodies,new instruments in their melodies,different vocals even sometimes. All of this means that they never risk getting boring to listen to.

OK some others to try are So Long, Hole In Your Soul, Slipping Through My Fingers, As Good As New, If It Wasn't For The Nights - all very different sounding but all essentially ABBA - by the way Name of The Game is from the 1977 album - ABBA-The Album

@j0hnf_uk2 жыл бұрын
This song has a kind of unique feel to it, as ABBA songs go at least, in that there's a sombre, almost melancholic undertone to it, but simultaneously it also has a air of optimism and hope as it asks the question, 'what's the name of the game?' A song about a relationship where one side is a bit puzzled/cautious but at the same time wants things to work out. Even as an 8 year old, when this first came out, I could sense that touch of sad cautiousness about the song but also the longing optimism of the chorus.
@edned55042 жыл бұрын
Well said. I agree. Most Abba songs have a melancholic undercurrent, unless they are full-scale sad numbers.
@chelseacharger2 жыл бұрын
Definitely in my top three ABBA songs. There's so much going on but it all ties together brilliantly. The bass-line of this was used by the Fugees with their 'Rumble In The Jungle' release. And the guitar riff is reminiscent of The Troggs 'Wild Thing'.
@RavennaAl2 жыл бұрын
Many artists who get a hit song will try to copy it with similar songs. The trouble is that all their songs song alike. ABBA went out of their way to be sure to make each song different. What they didn’t realize is that in doing so, they created their own unmistakable sound, the sound of ABBA. So, even though their songs are quite different from each other, you still can tell it’s them. Simply amazing.

This is a great song and the structure is actually nuts when you delve into it. I've always loved how the acoustic guitar and the drums sound, too. The fact that you 2 have such a great vibe together and you both clearly have musical knowledge yourselves plus an appreciation for the many great elements that Abba were, is especially with current world events, such a joyous thing. And fact you both still have so many great Abba songs to go yet from their extensive catalogue still to check out i.e Thank You for the Music, Honey Honey I kissed the Teacher to name just some, means plenty more to see your reactions to yet to bring some further happiness into our current cruel and sad times.

THX ! Undoubtedly one of their most creative pieces, rich in diversity. With a slightly strange intro, a first poured bringing the chorus abba full of voices, followed by a bridge with a different verse with the voice of Frida. Always with the small melodies of Benny added behind the main brilliantly. The quintessence of abba seems to me to be in these four distinct but at the same time totally unitary parts.

After "Fernando - Dancing Queen - Money-Money - Knowing Me, Knowing You" ABBA shocked many fans with "The Name Of The Game" in the sense "what they want, what should this etc". For me a deep unexpected masterpiece, perhaps not for every mood, but every time if I listen to this song, I'm so impressed, apparently inspired by US artists like Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder, before ABBA started with disco titles "Vouley Vous - Gimme Me, Gimme Me - Summer Night City" inspired by The Bee Gees, but not so successfully in the Europe charts and not released as singles in USA. I'm absolutely no disco fan, but these three titles are great. I think, Abba were disappointed and published next the conventional album "Super Trouper" with no experimental titles (I like the synthi Pop hymn "Me And You" - signpost (?) of the 80s sound). Yes ABBA have a wide music spectrum; you haven't discover them Live on stage, full passion and energy; they had rocked the halls!!!

That 3:15 moment on your react was GOLD. I love seeing younger generations experience and feel these ABBA songs. You can now imagine how we felt living through that time. I was 11 going on 12 when this BRILLIANT song was released. (1980) The genius of ABBA, in pretty much invented the music 'video clip' was such a game changer. Bjorn wrote the lyrics one night when he was drunk, saying the words came easy, all within an hour. He stressed that the lyrics to this one were NOT about his and Agnetha 's divorce, because there were no winners in that situation. Great react guys, one of my favs. Blessings from South Australia 🇦🇺

If you like to hear something unexpected with ABBA, try them in medieval sound with "The Piper". Or you can listen to the extraordinary Spanish version of "Move On" whose title is "Al Andar". Then, if you want to see something unexpected about Bjorn and Benny, react to "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do". Or simply consider a very ABBA-esque song "Honey Honey", then listen to the lovely version of the same in Swedish language.
