Very true! I've had such fake "friendships" and fake "relationships" where there was nothing there really - no trust, no deep conversation, no opportunity to tell the other person anything. What little trust I placed in these people was abused and betrayed. There is indeed no greater loneliness than being in such a fake "relationship/friendship". Such people are a waste of time. It's better to be alone and use one's time in a useful way than to waste time and energy on fake people that don't really care. And yet at times I have met strangers that really cared, that I could have a deep and meaningful conversation with and that showed great empathy. Whilst they did not become friends - some did not want to make new friends after previous bad experiences - the time spent with them and the conversations with them will stay with me forever, in a positive way. And whilst I would wish for friends and a partner, I would only make time for genuine people in my life now. I don't have time for the pretenders, liars and users. Indeed one is not lonely when being alone - one only thinks one is.

I already knew I didn’t have a friend in this world, other than my mother, whom I loved dearly - until she turned on me and turned my already envious sister on me also. Both teamed up and my mother seemed to want to lead me into dangerous situations, where I’d lose my job, get into a car accident, get arrested or killed. Fortunately, I’m an adult so, when I see someone being toxic, I know it’s time to cut them off and it doesn’t matter, if they’re my mother. Many people finding themselves as victims and targets of narcissism and, then, discover the world of flying monkeys and enablers find out they’re alone. My mother died a few months ago and the people I do still know? I know they wished things had turned out better - for my mother. Some of these people have issues with narcissism, jealousy, racism, gender, you name it. Some just wish I was worse at what I do or less attractive, although I see myself as pretty average. But, through my layperson’s education on the topic, during the past 4 years, while being terribly hurt, I knew I wasn’t alone. I looked in the mirror and staring back at me, was the person I knew had my back - me. Also, sometimes, being idle can pose as loneliness. You need to have a paradigm shift in your mind. Stop sitting there, ruminating about other people, their intentions, actions and the possible outcomes of such. If you need to cry, parse out time for it, get it done and move on, as if was just another thing on your to do list, that needed to get done, but was finite. Pick up an interest or hobby. Get out in nature. Exercise. Join an interest group. Learn a new skill. Get a pet, if you can care for it in the long term. Shower. Clean your living space. Fix or change your hair. All of these things sound like BS. But, I believe the mind to be much like a bookshelf. As you place new books on one end, the old ones fall off the other end. It results in a library that you and only you have been able to build, on your own. It engrains in you, insidiously, the understanding that you are able to move on, regardless of the intentions of others. That you can insert positivity into your life and pride in yourself. And none of this should be meant to impress others, in the end. Because, trust, they will be less happy for you, if they find that you’ve done better, despite them and as if they’ve had no effect. Today, because my sister is stalling the start of probate and after going through months of talking to lawyers, who either charged a great deal or who didn’t want to handle what they felt was a contested case, to have me court-appointed as the executor of my mother’s estate, I mailed off the paperwork that a lawyer would’ve done, for superior court review, that I completed myself. While I don’t yet know what the outcome will be, yeah, I did that. I did that being utterly new to it and I did that knowing full well, that even those who seem to be in my corner, are secretly hoping I simply run out of gas. But, I could let no poorly-intentioned, no overcharging yet disinterested lawyer, handle this, while life slipped away. Even if the court tells me that my submission was ridiculous (doubtful) and it isn’t granted, I’ll still consider my submission to be a positive milestone in my life and I know many people wouldn’t attempt it. That one, little thing, is enough for me to wake up tomorrow, feeling just a bit more like I’m winning - and I can celebrate with that woman in the mirror.

One thing you might try to do, as I have, is to see if there’s a registered Will, that might be in your favor, registered with the state. Because I have not wanted to get into a knock down, drag out fight with my sister. She has access to both of our mother’s properties and is living in one. While she has tried to martyr herself, for the 4 years she spent with mom, after the 30+ she missed, she feels she is in charge of everything now. She says she has not found a Will from mom, now that mom has passed. That may be true OR she may have found it, decided to level the playing field and ripped it up. Although I don’t know how it will play out yet, I happened to come across the probate papers and Will of my stepfather, which I’ve submitted excerpts of, along with an OSC and VC to stop my sister from dragging this out, by not renouncing, nor applying as coexecutor. The probate papers have my mother’s signature all over them and my stepfather’s Will is attached and considered valid. It leaves everything to me and for me to become the successor executor, distributing things how I see fit, if I’ve interpreted right. So, if you or anyone else reading this, thinks there’s this possibility, it might be worth your while to check it out. Because narcissistic, flying monkeys often swoop in, when they smell blood (like your parents becoming elderly and nearing death). Like my sister, they’ll try to gaslight you into thinking you never did anything and do not deserve anything, because they don’t want a fight and they want you to disappear.

Took me a while, I realized I’m in the best scenario possible for me. I’m lonely at my desk at school. I get home and complain that I didn’t have time to study for anything, when I’m reality I did. I was just too focused on fake friend groups. I have time to focus and manifest my self, I can study my art and school work and every make workouts for myself. It’s truly a blessing in disguise ❤.

Such wise words Tyler! When it came to dating and trying to establish a connection with someone it was always a nightmare! The ghosting, no common interests, etc. I had my fair share of spending time alone and being single and being patient. Now I’m in an amazing committed relationship with someone who shares the same values as me, introduce me to his family, consistent communication .. you name it. I feel so grateful and happy I was patient for so long.
