For me, I was basically born into fishing, nearly everyone in my family fishes, but I kinda completely love fishing these day's more than ever, since 2020 happened, & me, & my grandfather had nothing better to do than fishing, & when I started buying slightly higher end gear compared to what I used to use, I completely rekindled my passion for fishing, & now I have the best fishing luck in my family.

I'm from the Eastern shore Maryland. The bait i have nostalgia with is a spinner bait. Bc when I was nine years old my dad used to take us to a place called "The Bass Whole" maybe my dad named it that I'm not sure but that is what we called it my whole life. Anyway I was throwing the spinner bait and I hooked into a 5ibs 9 ounces 22 inch long bass back in 1994 that thing was a giant around where I grew up. My dad decided to keep it and we went and got pictures in the local paper and the title was "Who caught Whom" and I got a citation and we mounted the fish and we had it hanging on the wall for many years. That has still to this day been my PB but I recently picked up the rod and reel last summer and again the passion is still there. I have fished in between then and now but I've been watching you and many other influencers in the bass fishing world and it is got me excited I usually go every day. Thank you for your content and keep up the good work.

Probably like most people the lure that I caught the fever with was a rooster tail I (I was 10 years old) caught every thing on that lure I actually was using live worms and had ran out and was fixing to kick rocks back home and I found a rooster tail on bank and caught more fish than I had ever caught before.. Thanks for coming out again Tyler

Started taking fishing a lot more seriously this year, and that led me to using a Texas rig for the first time. A blue and black Rage Bug and that first ever hook set… man. I was/am obsessed to the point where I am planning on buying a boat this next year!

I grew up fly fishing and it's been so long I dont remember what fly got me hooked, but when I moved to Virginia, I started using a spinning rod and going for Smallies. My first really big small was on a berkley swim jig just like the one in thumbnail. That was the hardest fighting fish I had ever caught, up to that point and I couldn't stop.

From south florida growing up fished a lot, but most of the time it was for food. Did not enjoy fishing until I moved to North Carolina. And started fishing with a friend of mine who was a semi pro. I have caught bass before by accident, trying to catch big brim. Or catfish etc. But my first attentionly caught bass, was on a red and black stripe square bale, called a speedtrap. It seemed like it was magic ugly, but magic! And then as time went on, he introduced me to finding fish catching fish because you can! He has passed on, but I learned so much!

I've only been used to live bait Saltwater. While the fights were great, it was mostly sitting around and no finesse involved. Recently got back into fishing and I had my first hit on a Whopper Plopper. That's what sealed the deal to keep going and learning

Great video Tyler! My lure was a Hula Popper. Funny thing was I didn't know how to fish it "correctly". I was working at a new Salvation Army Camp grounds back in 1979 before the camping season season started. I was the only "Youth Camp" employee and doing things like installing bathroom hardware in the brand new cabins as this was to be the first year at this camp. I had nothing to do after work, so a full time employee at the camp lodge offered to lend me his spinning rod and the lure he had tied on. A Hula Popper. He gave it to me with no instructions. Although I had fished with worms almost every day of the summer for 8 years when I was a kid, I hadn't fished at all since the 8th grade. I was 26 years old at the time. I cast it out and just began reeling it in between some lily pads. I think a bass just absolutely exploded on that lure on my first cast. I caught many fish that summer by just reeling it in. No popping and waiting involved. Just plain cast and retrieve. As I look back on it, I would say it worked kind of like a buzzbait. Those top water explosions that summer hooked me but good! I'm pretty sure I was hooked after my first fish. I took my first paycheck and bought a spinning rod, some Hula Poppers, Jitterbugs, and an awesome topwater lure called a Sputterbug. Since the boxes had instructions on them, I did start fishing them as they were designed and suggested, but at times, I still ran the Hula Popper back on a straight retrieve... and it still worked that way too! Happy Holidays and have a blessed Christmas!

Last October, I caught my first four pound bass on a Storm 4 inch Crappie. I forgot the scale that day so I had someone text my dad to bring his! 😂 It was the best fishing day of my life because it was fished out of a pound that I thought only caught dinks to two pounders! But now I know they are there. Even saw some 6 pounders jump out of that pond. Just wish I had a kayak! 😢

When I was a kid my dad used to make his own spinnerbaits. All the local tournament guys would buy them like hot cakes. I still have all the stuff he used to make them today. I keep telling myself I am going to set aside time and throw some together, but haven't done it yet.

My hooking moment was about 10 months ago when me and my friend went out on a john boat and we had one worm I found in the bottom of my bag. Watermelon red, Yum Swimm'n Dinger. We now know that lure by "Ole Faithfull" and it is always my go too when fishing is tuff or I need fish in the boat. We each caught about 4 bass that day all under 2lbs but when you haven't caught a bass in about 3 months that's about as fun as it gets. 😂

A culprit 7 inch worm in redshad. Started off just reeling it in, years later i fished it on a Texas rig with my dad. Then I got older and it was the black and blue jig. Ended up jacking my PB dragging that through a brush pile when I was 19. A jig is still my favorite lure.

There wasn’t really any specific thing about fishing that got me. For me I didn’t grow up fishing, my uncle fished but he never really took me with him. For me it was an outlet, my father recently passed, I had recently got sober and was just going through a lot. One day tho I went camping and just caught a few bluegill and was hooked from then on, discovered bass fishing a little while after and it’s been an integral part of my life ever since

StOrm, 13fishing, rapla, crush city, what not to like. I only use a soft rod to keep them on not fast Action or stiff medium heavy power rod not good to use. The more moderate Action rod the better.
